UK to get budget PS3 after all?

PS3 News | Amazon certainly thinks so.

It appears that the UK may not miss out on the lower-spec PlayStation 3 package, despite recent reports that suggested the 20GB PS3 wouldn't be seen in the country. The source of this fresh hope? It's none other than online retail giant Amazon, which is claiming that both the 20GB and 60GB models will be available Up Under.

If it does make it to the UK, the decision will mark a U-turn in Sony's plans. After all, it was only last month when Sony UK boss Ray Maguire told trade publication MCV that, "The lower-end 20Gb version of PlayStation 3 has no wi-fi, no HDMI and none of the other slots in it, so it's really a question of where we would position it; it's more likely that we will only launch the 60Gb version."

Not so, says Amazon, which has the budget version of Sony's next-gen console marked down for a release on January 26, 2007. Sony is yet to comment, but as soon as it does, we'll get back to you.

At German retailer Saturn you can pre-order a PS3 in-store since 2 days! You will even get a nice brochure - http://ps3-news.vigamex.de/archives/410-PS3-ab-sofort-vorbestellen!.html has some pics (but only German text). You can only pre-order the 60 GB version there - maybe a hint that only this one will be available? But you get a free Game with it!
