Final Fantasy XIII to look dead good
PS3 News | Graphics similar to Advent Children, says director.
Square-Enix certainly likes its eye candy, a fact further underlined by the latest quotes from Final Fantasy XIII director Motomu Toriyama. Speaking to Dengeki Online, Toriyama announced that he wanted the fight scenes in the forthcoming RPG, which will appear on the PlayStation 3, to visually match the ones in Final Fantasy VII Advent Children, the computer-generated film released last year.
"FFXIII attempts to see how far it's possible to make FFVII Advent Children's battles into a game," said Toriyama. "FFVII Advent Children is a video production, and it showed us battles that have not been achievable in FF so far. With FFXIII, we're focusing on how far we can realise the video." Final Fantasy XIII was shown off at Sony's E3 conference last month, and Toriyama also confirmed to Dengeki that Square-Enix would have a playable demo of the title ready for E3 next year.
