Almost equally unsurprising was the news that Sonic creator Yuji Naka would be directing the new game, with Naka-san chuntering on about how "the 'rebirth of Sonic' will offer an unparalleled sense of speed that is only possible using the processing power afforded by the new systems". Despite our slight cynicism though, even we have to admit that the static screenshots alone suggest that the game will be played at a speed of cheek-flapping proportions.
Anyway, fingers crossed that we get a new, more substantial trailer at the Tokyo Game Show (September 16th to 18th, as if you'd forget) or, even better, something that's actually playable. Whatever is eventually shown, you'll hear about it here.
