"I was shocked by how powerful the new consoles are," he exclaimed, tongue lolling slightly. "They should really free up our development."
Eggebrecht said his company - the chaps developed the Star Wars: Rogue Squadron games for Nintendo's GameCube - would move to PS3 based on performance.
His company has worked with Microsoft's Xbox 360, but found PlayStation 3's 3.2GHz Cell chip offered more processing power. 'The additional performance allows the gang at Factor 5 to more easily simulate the real world for a better game experience' he said.
Factor 5 have made it clear in the past that they will always lean towards the more powerful hardware available. They achieved the highest in-game performance of any game on a current generation machine - 20 million fully bump mapped polygons a second at 60 fps in Rogue Squadron III. With this in mind, could Eggebrecht's comments be taken as evidence that the PS3 is more capable then Xbox 360?
