Pre E3 2005: First PS3 teaser ad

PS3 News | Sorry, no game footage, just logos and a slogan.

In the streets surrounding the LA convention centere where E3 is held, the first PS3 teaser posters have been put up, apparently early.

The posters show fragments of the Playstation button shapes in white on a plain green background, the Playstation logo in the top corner, and the message 'Welcome chang3'.

While a minor point, the Playstation logo and the 3 are the closest thing so far to confirmation of the new Sony machine's name will in fact be 'Playstation 3'.

I'll get a PS3, eventually. Xbox 360 comes first, at the moment.

I like them, but playing off the "change" aspect seems to be a bit sneaky...

i think some of them look fake...

there's a couple that are out of focus for the poster, but the writing on the poster frame is crystal clear... and some just look... wrong...

if they are real, i quite like the simplicity of the ads, but yeah... early much?

guess it ties in with E3 and may offset MS's limelight... (i know nintendo are planning big things for E3 too, but MS are certainly doing the better job building hype...)

also, if the poster are real, as well as solidifying the assumption of the name (PS3), it's also hinting at a largely unchanged controller design, given they are using the same button runes as the last 2... (just my opinion, but that's how i'm interpreting the use of the runes...)

Yeah, I thought of that about the buttons.

It's a contradiction, isn't it?
Going for 'familiarity' as a theme with the buttons and logo (and by the looks of it, the name), yet claiming to be different with the word 'change'.

Maybe it will have customisable cases? Like the 360's faceplate. The name won't change thats for sure! Maybe the face buttons won't change but the overall contoller's shape will be redesigned.

I can't wait for it, I'm such a fanboy!
