The Last Guardian skipping Tokyo Game Show 2011

PS3 News | Eventually...
Tokyo Game Show 2011 is right around the corner, and as with every year it will be 'the' place for Japanese developers to show off their latest and greatest video games. Though many games are known to be shown, and even more expected, there's one pretty noteworthy title that won't be making any appearance at all. Confirmed by the US PlayStation Blog, that title is The Last Guardian.

Though hugely anticipated by a loyal fanbase, and often cited as one of the reasons to buy a PlayStation 3, The Last Guardian has dodged media presentations for some time, failing to show up at the last few major events despite expectations that the game was ready for further public showing. Though we're sure the hard workers at Team ICO will deliver when the time comes, it's the question of 'when' that is on everybody's lips, with some concerned the game may have entered a rough patch of development, not unlike Square-Enix's Final Fantasy Versus XIII.

But as they always say, you can't rush art. We'll just have to wait and hope, with our fingers crossed, that next year will finally be time to show The Last Guardian.

Everyone seems to have forgotten Japan has very recently been hit by a massive natural disaster, maybe just maybe that could be having an impact on some games currently in development.

Nobody has forgotten shit.

It's not like release delays are an uncommon occurrence, but yeah the constant power outages in Japan have definitely not helped anything.

On the bright side, it gives me time to get a hold of the new Ico and Shadow of the Colossus releases and play the heck out of them.

When are the HD remakes coming out anyway? I've been looking forward to playing them since... forever! Shame bout The Last Guardian, but oh well. As Grim said, gives us more time to play the crap out of Ico and Shadow of the colossus.

The Japanese versions release on 22 September. I luckily managed to secure a very limited 'limited edition' on Play-Asia. Priced the same as if buying both Ico and SotC separately (JPN versions), but still double the price of the buying the US/PAL collection.

Although, I'm someone who can justify this to myself, just by the incredible artwork/and extra book. icon_smile.gif

A shame there wasn't more to go around. Practically sold out as soon as the pre-orders opened, a trend on P-A.
