This follows further rumours that Team Bondi has had numerous finance issues and is potentially bankrupt. Kennedy Miller Mitchell was founded by Academy Award winning producers George Miller and Doug Mitchell and is the studio responsible for the upcoming animated feature Happy Feet 2.
It should be noted that the L.A. Noire IP is owned by Rockstar Studios and thus would not become a part of KMM if such a deal were to actually take place. Similarly, ‘Depth Analysis,’ the facial animation technology that raised many eyebrows and played such a large role in L.A. Noire is also thought to be unaffected by any dealings.
Founder of Team Bondi Brendan McNamara has reportedly been in talks with KMM after powerhouse Rockstar was hesitant to publish the studio’s next unannounced game.
As well as the sale, the report claims that employees of Team Bondi have been offered the option between new jobs at KMM or severance pay. Indeed some members of Team Bondi have already left for KMM on poor terms, during L.A. Noire’s rough development cycle.
Despite all this, Australian law states that any official sale documents must be shown within a 28 day window so don’t necessarily expect confirmation anytime soon. Team Bondi has not yet made any public comments, but rest assured we will keep you updated if new information comes to light. So stay tuned.
