Warner Bros. Interactive to publish Lollipop Chainsaw

PS3 News | Delicious.
Concerned that the quirky looking Lollipop Chainsaw will never make it out of Japan? Worry not, as today Warner Bros. Interactive has announced via press release that they'll be localising the game for the English speaking portion of the world.

Developed by Grasshopper Manufacture (Killer7, No More Heroes, Shadows of the Damned) and published by Kadokawa Games in Japan, Lollipop Chainsaw follows the exploits of a high school cheerleader as she slaughters her way through a zombie invasion, pulling off a few choice dance moves when the opportunity calls.

Though it is known that both Goichi 'Suda51' Suda and Akira Yamaoka are working on Lollipop Chainsaw, the Warner Bros. Interactive press release also confirms that Hollywood director and writer James Gunn will be lending his talent to the project. Gunn is best known for his work on Tromeo and Juliet, Slither, Super, and the 2004 Zack Snyder remake of Dawn of the Dead.

Lollipop Chainsaw is on schedule for a 2012 release on both Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.

Looks interesting, and anything that involves Grasshopper Manufacture is always worth a look, from my experience.

I'll be keeping a close eye on this one. It's kinda surprising seeing big publishers pick up these niche titles.

Excellent news, got excited when I first heard about this one.

WB has been pretty good at game publishing recently.
