E3 2011: Metal Gear Solid and Zone of the Enders HD Collections announced

PS3 News | Hideo Kojima's meaty packages.
We've had the God of War Collection, Monster Hunter Portable 3rd Remastered is confirmed, and now we have two new high definition update packages to look forward to; Metal Gear Solid HD Collection and Zone of the Enders HD Collection, both from Kojima Productions and announced at Konami's pre-E3 2011 conference.

For the former, players can look forward to Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty, Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater and Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker bundled together and rendered in high definition visuals, similar to the aforementioned God of War Collection. Not only will this give players a chance to play two of the best PlayStation 2 games all over again, but also give non-PlayStation Portable owners the ability to play through Peace Walker.

The second package is pretty self explanatory. Zone of the Enders HD Collection might not be Zone of the Enders 3, but it will give a whole new generation the chance to play through Zone of the Enders and Zone of the Enders 2 in high definition on superior hardware.

Best of all, not only will both of these collections release for the PlayStation 3, but they'll also be available on the Xbox 360. Pricing and release date are yet to be revealed.

Actually now that I think about it. Is MGS1 on PSN for download? That might be why not.

They wouldn't need to, they could just do a HD port of Twin Snakes (The Gamecube remake of MGS 1) Might be rights issues though since I think Silicon Knights were the ones behind that not Kojima productions.

That said, fuck I would love a HD Twin Snakes. Cutscenes in that game were amazing.

I think Nintendo has some ownership on the Twin Snakes version. But hey could grab the higher res textures from the PC version of MGS that was around at the time. The package kind of seems empty without the original.

@John Marston: Thank you kind sir! A legend among legends.

@Moteread01: I know right!? I actually thought for a second Kojima had learned to speak fluent English.

if you can call that fluent that is ...

Looking forward to some ZOE action, I guess this will have tie us over until ZOE 3 gets announced.

After watch that Konami video, I think that puts some serious doubt over Platinum Games being involved in MGS Rising.

Definitely buying the MGS collection but I am a bit disappointed that there's no MGS HD remake. It would have been nice to play a better looking MGS that didn't involve Snake backflipping to dodge bullets.

I dont know. If anything it leaves the rumour in limbo, just as it was. Kojima was dancing around questions regarding the game, and only confirmed it wont be at E3. Which is a shame, mind you, but doesn't rule out Platinum.

TGS might be the best bet. I have no idea why I have so much blind faith in thus absurd rumour icon_lol.gif.

Some good stuff from Kojima. I like that both the MGS and ZOE Collections will be released on the NGP/Vita and will both be compatible with the save file transfer thing that they have developed.

Also during the interview Kojima basically comes out and says that in the future they will release their new games on both the PS3 and the NGP/Vita. Hopefully that pays off for them since the western market is all about the home console whereas Japan has moved towards handhelds all the time.

Kinda more excited about Zone of the Enders collection than MGS but that's still awesome too.
