Rumour: Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker coming to PlayStation 3

With Metal Gear: Rising having gone quiet, Metal Gear fans are likely wondering when they can expect the next franchise outing. While it might not be an entirely new game, reports from French website JVN seem to indicate that the next Metal Gear game will be a re-release of Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker for the PlayStation 3.

Originally released on the PlayStation Portable, and widely considered one of the best games for the platform, Peace Walker follows legendary soldier Big Boss as he establishes the legacy that would live through Solid Snake's saga. If true, this re-release would include controls adapted to the Dual Shock 3 controller, as well as upgraded visuals.

While this might rate as a rumour for the time being, the gossip coincides with the announcement of Monster Hunter Portable 3rd HD and Sony's plans to run a line of software known as PlayStation Portable Remastered, which would include 1080p versions of popular PlayStation Portable titles re-released on PlayStation 3.

Could Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker for PlayStation 3 be on the way? We'll no doubt find out more at E3 2011.

I adore Metal Gear Solid about as much as I hate my stupid PSP that has been the source of nought but misery to me, and I never got past the first few missions of Peace Walker because I sucked at it. I firmly believe that I had every right to suck at it, though, because using buttons as an analogue stick is awful. I can't wait to play this game for reals with a trusty controller.

Pretty sweet, I'd definitely get it.

While we're at it, I'd also get a HD version of Maverick Hunter X and Valkyria Chronicles II.

I completely approve of this rumour. Peace Walker is a great game in the style of MGS3, this would make it even better!

Please please please please PLEEEEEASE let this be true.... It's my one and only regret in getting rid of my PSP. Bundle it with Portable Ops and then announce a God of War remaster too and I'll just transfer all my money to Sony (if a hacker hasn't already stolen it all that is).

...WOW... I dunno what your talking about but even in my day there was analogue stick... Only two buttons (with the same function), but definitely had the stick!
