It's been a long time coming, but here it finally is. Announced at the annual Namco Bandai event known as 'Level Up', the company is proud to announce Soul Calibur 5, the continuation of the long running weapon focused fighting franchise.
Detailed over at NeoGAF, the game is revealed to be a true Soul Calibur sequel, with a story and premise set seventeen years later in the time line, and starring a new main character called Patroclus.
With a trailer shown at the event along with the announcement, the developers stated that the battle system has been improved and refined, and will include new battle features and mechanics.
Soul Calibur 5 will be fully revealed at E3 2011, and is currently on track for a release sometime in 2012. Below you can see an off-screen shot of the logo, and fans would be wise to keep track of the mysterious countdown page, that may reveal a trailer or new information.
