Samurai Warriors 3 Z coming to PlayStation 3

PS3 News | And Samurai Warriors 3 Xtreme Legends for Wii.
If you're eager to get your slice on but don't own a Wii, then celebrations are in order. According to Andriasang, Tecmo Koei plan to release a version of Samurai Warriors 3 for the PlayStation 3.

Originally released exclusively for the Nintendo Wii, this new rebuild of the game titled Samurai Warriors 3 Z will feature two new game modes, three new Generals to play as, ten new stories to enjoy, additional gameplay elements as well as the expected higher quality graphics.

Accompanying this announcement was Samurai Warriors 3 Xtreme Legends, an enhanced Wii build which will include a new feature called 'Mix Joy'. Clarification on what this feature does, as well as other extras, is unavailable at this point.

Samurai Warriors 3 Z and Samurai Warriors 3 Xtreme Legends both intend to launch in Japan early next year. Hopefully they make their way to our shores, much like vanilla Samurai Warriors 3 did.

I'm enjoying SW3 on Wii at the moment. I play it on and off just like I did with all the other DW/SW/OW games. I'll probably end up picking up the PS3 version since it has more stories and will have updated visuals. I doubt I'll get SW3:XL on Wii since it will most likely have the extras I'm keen for in the PS3 version (more stories, characters, etc).

I'm guessing two of the "new playable generals" will be Masanori Fukushima and Aya Gozen. The third character will likely be someone who was originally cut from the Wii version but appeared in SW1 or SW2. Maybe Goemon Ishikawa or Gracia? Or maybe a return of both Musasi and Kojiro?

I recently picked up Sengoku Basara: Samurai Heroes for PS3 as it's supposedly similar to SW. While I'm not picking up the Wii version, it should be interesting to note the similarities and differences in each game.

I really do hope SW3:Z is released in Western regions and doesn't suffer the same fate as Orochi Warriors Z. Though maybe the fact SW3 wasn't released on next-gen consoles will mean it gets a release in the West. If not I guess I can always import given the PS3's region free-ness. icon_wink.gif

Thank god this got announced! I really wanted to get stuck into SW3 since I spent about 100 hours on SW2 on the 360 but I just couldn't when it looked and ran worse than the ps2 versions of the older games!
