Team Ico collection set for 2011?

PS3 Rumour | Ico and Shadow of the Colossus to be remastered?
With the remastered adventures of Kratos currently doing the rounds on the PlayStation 3, it comes as no surprise that two other highly-regarded PlayStation 2 titles, Ico and Shadow of the Colossus are currently rumoured to be receiving the HD remastering treatment.

The Sixth Axis is currently reporting that a source has confirmed the existence of a Team Ico Collection which would bundle together HD versions of the engaging titles Ico and Shadow of the Colossus onto one Blu-ray disc.

Rumour has it that the currently unconfirmed bundle would be targeting a Q1 2011 release, but alas Sony has declined to comment on the story at this time so we can only hope that this is more than a work of fiction.

PALGN will update the story as more information arises.

People said the same thing when Ico was re-released a few years ago. Original copies won't drop in value, especially the limited edition (of which I have two icon_smile.gif).

To be perfectly honest, I want to see more information on The Last Guardian instead of this. Been waiting too long for that game.

A HD port of these two would be freakin awesome... Sony would be crazy not to want to put them on a Blu-ray disc, especially considering how popular they are (and both being rare).

Thats different, a release on the same platform wont do much, but a HD port will kill off a a huge desire to own the PS2 version (except for the true collectors)

Look at god of war for example.. the PS2 versions are now worth nothing... Even the Collectors edition.

As a full time second hand game trader I beg to differ, one of my most popular items has been the PSone FF games and I have found that the popularity in these has risen since their release on the PSN, prices have remained steady. A point that should be closely monitered by the CEO's of game distributors who dream of a digital only future. Collectors love having the original games and a lot of gamers are collectors so I see a rise in popularity of the PS2 ICO & SOC if this HD release made. Which I am all for, never finished SOC and would love to do so with the added motivation of trophy's

God of War isn't the best example considering it was printed fairly regularly. Ico and Shadow went out of print VERY quickly in comparison, so you'll find it much more difficult to find a copy in good condition.

And like skrob73 said, lots of gamers prefer having original physical copies, especially when it comes to consoles.

Interesting you mention FF skrob, i tended to notice that while demand for the FF games did not drop, the price sure did. Before FF7 hit they were hitting the $120+ mark easy.

Anyway... I'll leave it at that, only time will tell.

Yeah FFVII did probably drop away a bit, more the Platinum than the non plat though, FFVIII has remained the same for me, I only do Buy Now though so perhaps auction prices have dropped.
I'm praying to every God I know of that this rumour is true.

I really hope this turns out to be true! I've been praying for this since the God of War Collection was announced.

Macka's been trying to coerce me into finishing this game for AGES (not that I don't love it to bits, but i don't have a ps2, so I can only play it while he's at my place) so THIS will make everything superly awsome exciting.

Would be awesome if they did this for the final fantasy games as well

Despite the fact that I own original copies of both PS2 games and they would undoubtedly depreciate in value, these are games that really deserve the treatment that the God of War Collection got. Ico was running at a ridiculously low resolution (320x240 I've heard) and Shadow of the Colossus was just too technically ambitious, with the framerate chugging.

obviously they are cashing in on God of wars success of a HD re-release.. and if this does as well as the god of war collection we may see more hd remakes in future (hd dark chronicle collection ftw!!)

Never played either of these games, but a remake will definitely get me on to it ^^

And now I have two reasons to want a PS3. icon_smile.gif Man, Fumito Ueda is the best.

Awesome, cause even though I own Shadow of the Colossus, I been trying to buy Ico for ages and this would make it so much better even with HD and trophies support.

I've finished both Colossus and ICO so many times that I can beat Colossus in under 3 hours, and ICO in 2. The greatest games of all time, tbh, with Colossus being my all time favourite.

So if this rumor is true, then I am going to shed tears of ultimate happiness. Actually it better be true, or I'll annihilate children with my fists.

If this happened I would sell my 360 for a PS3. Not just words, I would.

I personally don't care about this.I haven't got the GOW collection and have no plan on getting it except MAYBE when it's extremely cheap.I'm happy with my orginal standard GOW and my collectors edition GOW2.

Like GOW, I have the original Ico so I don't care about a HD update and trophies and I have no interest in SOtC.

The only games I own on PS2 that I would buy a collection of on day one would be the MGS's and GTA3-GTASA.

Can I ask why?

I really hope this is true, it also makes a ton of sense with Ico and SotC being amoung the most praised games from the ps2 era yet the most difficult to track down and play... unless price is no object of course.

EDIT: and it would also tie in nicely with the release of The Last Guardian.

Well one reason is a reason that most people would likely think is a wimpy reason (though I have geard one person say the same reason for not playing the game) : laugh: I don't like how you have to kill the Collosi when at least some don't bother harming you. I realise that he wants to bring his dead gf back from the dead but other lives shouldn't be taken to bring someone back from the dead. People may see the next bit as cold hearted but, she's dead, get over it.

Plus it sounds rather boring.

Ico in my opinion was heartwarming. SotC doesn't sound heartwarming at all.
