Uncharted 2 freezing issue

Rarely a major new release goes by without some sort of problem these days, and Uncharted 2 appears to be no different. The Product Review website says there are a number of reports from gamers that their copies of Uncharted 2 were freezing, and that the problem wasn’t specific to a certain model of PlayStation 3.

Gamers have also said that the freezing doesn’t happen in any particular spot, but is more common at the start and at the end of the game. The problem, it is suggested, must relate to a glitch in the game or firmware rather than in the console itself, as faulty consoles would experience issues playing other games. Currently, a fix had not been announced, but in this day and age of updates post-release, we can expect one in the near future.

Mine froze once on the train level. < Not really spoilers since I'm pretty sure everyone knows (it's in some of the ads right?), but I know someone will have a cry if I don't.
Anyways that's the only time it froze for me. That was when I decided I should go to bed.

Ha ha - yes I think some of the freezing issues might be related to the fact people are playing 8 hours straight!

Mine froze once, towards the end of the game. I just restarted it and was back to where it forze...No big dramas.

The game uses a tremendous amount of power from the PS3, so I'm not surprised that it'd freeze after a long game session, especially if you have the phat model of the PS3 as the heat dispersion isn't as efficient as the slim.

Froze once for me, and my PS3 was noticeably pretty damned hot.

mine hasnt frozen, but I've been stuck i nthe environment a few time, incredibly annoying as you are climbing massive structures and all of a sudden you're standing in the wall.

He need to cut the ego.

Mine didn't freeze as well. The longest sitting I played it was only about five hours, though.

Cooler packs alternate the power supplies output due to more draw from power, so it's more detrimental to your system than anything.

Best recommendation is just keep it in a nice place really. The heat is fine because the PS3 has quite a lot of cooling and heatsinks in it.

I am up to chapter 25 and haven't frozen - started playing on Friday night, have been playing as much as possible through to last night, so it's been on a fair bit.

Never frozen on me.

The only glitch I've experienced was im MP where I went to jump off a platform to rescue a teammate and got stuck over the person and next to a barricade.

Mine hasn't frozen yet, though I do notice the system's cooling fan goes full pelt within minutes of playing.

Got the 60gb PS3 and played the whole game fine. My PS3 is standing up and nothing blocks it so heats not that big of an issue. Only in summer it starts to groan a little.

I'm hearing a lot of reports of the game freezing in Chapter 25. It's right after quite a big fight (luckily the freeze happens just after the game autosaves). Mine froze there, too, though I had been playing for about five hours at that time.

Mine did not freeze and I beat the game and have been playing multiplayer. Launch console.

I really doubt cooling is the problem here. Jason is most likely on the ball, it will be a code problem most likely related to their streaming tech. I smell interlocking problems myself.

well mine never froze on sp even after 7+ hours or so but it does online not the game but the character and it's only when enemys are close as i realised (felt like a radar at 1 stage)

Yup mine fronze on a later part of the game too, thank god for auto saves, I had been playing for at least 4 hours straight.

I'm sure ND will release a patch soon enough.

I had two freezes, one where a lot of explosions were occurring (can't remember the level) and one at the infamous chapter 25 spot.

Mine froze once too near the end (pretty sure it was chapter 25 as well) but i had been playing for probably about 6 hours. I took that as my cue to have a rest and eat lunch, and when i started up again it was right where i left off so on I went! I know a couple of my mates have had one or two freezes too, so it's definitely a problem. Thankfully tho it seems most happen right after an autosave.

I had a single incedent. Also in chapter 25. Pretty safe to assume that Chapter 25 is the main cuase of this issue with so many people reporting it in the same place.
