Sony marketing Resistance 3 already?

PS3 Rumour | Giant billboard sightings leave fans speculating.

Sony and Insomniac might just be getting a little ahead of themselves if a recent billboard sighting in Shreveport, Louisiana, is anything to go by.

NeoGaf member goldsoundz was happily driving along a road when he came across a billboard displaying a Resistance 3 logo. Stunned, it took the gentleman a moment to realise it was possibly due to a movie being filmed in the area. The movie in question is called Battle: Los Angeles, which is about aliens attacking the titular city and is due to hit cinemas in 2011. Given the similarities to the Resistance series, it certainly would be a plausible explanation why the billboard has appeared despite no formal announcements being made by Sony concerning the title’s existence.

Interestingly, the logo features imagery of the iconic Statue of Liberty. Is this a hint that Resistance 3 will be set in New York City? We’ll wait until Sony make an official announcement before speculating further.

You may need to edit your post, that logo in the top left corner is ps3 not psp.

Super cool, from the ending of R2, R3 was guaranteed to happen. I hope we don't have to wait until 2011 for R3 though

They were filming a movie there that comes out next year, so the billboard will be in the background for advertising within the movie

Congratulations! You didn't read the article!

I'm surprised they didn't just digital edit in the advertising after the shoot. Or maybe billboards are just cheaper than I thought.

The 'Insomniac' logo is also there, so thats a pretty much given. Still I don't think its too soon, atleast Sony are trying to pump out some decent software for their console. I haven't heard anything plausible for a hardcore gamer from Nintendo come out since...(Well I'd say the Gamecube), but I better say Mario Galaxy 2.

Having seen higher resolution pictures over at Kotaku I can vouch for trixSTAR and say it is indeed a PS3 logo and not a PSP one.

Looks like something's been painted over under Resistance 3 on the billboard, it's not a shop as it's visible in both photos, paint is glossier than the rest of the poster.
