Batman: Arkham Asylum bargain round-up

PS3 News | Na-na-na-na-na-na-na bargains!
It’s time to put on your masks, capes and terrify the villains of Gotham, Batman: Arkham Asylum is released on Aussie shores first thing tomorrow and to celebrate we’ve compiled a list of specials which will be available across retailers. But first, we’ll give you the low down on what this guide covers and the different versions that are on sale.

Batman: Arkham Asylum is available on the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, however, there will also be a PC version released a little later in the month. This guide covers the console versions only. Like most big name games these days, Arkham Asylum has been released in two different packs – a Standard Edition and Collector’s Edition. The Standard Edition is of course just the standalone game and normally retails for $119.95. The Collector’s Edition has a suggested retail price of $149.95, and contains a copy of the game, a 14" Batarang with stand, a behind-the-scenes DVD, a journal detailing the cell-mates of Arkham Asylum, and a code to download a bonus Challenge map.

Because of the relatively high suggested retail price, some of you may be disappointed to learn the game isn’t being sold below $80 anywhere. In fact, the best price we were able to find was at Gametraders, who are charging $89.97. The next best option is Kmart, where you can pick the game up for $94. Sadly, no one appears to have the Collector’s Edition on sale, which is a major bummer for Batman enthusiasts. It is worth mentioning, however, that Dick Smith is running a promotion where if you purchase the new PlayStation 3 Slim console for $499 you’ll receive the standard edition for FREE – certainly better than the other PS3 Slim deals running at the moment.

In case your wallet doesn’t want to take such a huge hit, there are three trade-in deals available. By trading-in one eligible title at GAME, you can walk out of the store with the standard edition for just $49.95. Similarly, if you trade-in two eligible titles at EB Games you can walk out with the standard edition for $39.95. Finally, JB is offering the standard edition for FREE when you trade-in three games - as always be sure to check their exclusions list (.pdf file) before charging into your local store.

A full list of specials can be found below. If you have anything to add to this list please email joseph.rositano@palgn.com.au or leave a message in the comments section. Prices were correct at time of publishing but are subject to change.

Gametraders seem to be selling it the cheapest. It's $89.95 there.

Collectors Edition is also the cheapest there, they had them going for $129.95

A bunch of UK stores (e.g. thehut.co.uk) have the game going for around 35 GBP, which is about AU$70 if you're prepared to wait.
That place seems to only ship within the UK. Are there any UK places you know that are decent and not too expensive on the shipping?
Pretty sure you shouldn't have any problems ordering from thehut.

Anyway, I got the 360 version from 365games.co.uk where it came to about a total of $AUS70 including shipping.

I got the collectors today from EB. They were down to their last one. I got it for $113 after a couple of trade ins. Its not the greatest limited edition ever but is not as bad as I expected after reading posts on here.

Got the Gametraders one for $87 with their discount card. Certainly worth the money, it's a lot of fun. Plus I didn't watch any of the trailers (that were spammed all over the web) so none of it was spoiled for me.

I got the regular edition from Jables for $52.90 worth of trade bait thanks to EB's Buy 2 Get 1 Free on pre-owned games. Totally worth it icon_lol.gif

It's just gone up on Steam as coming out on the 19th of September for US$49.99 (~$60 dollars).

Got mine from Game Shop Australia on eBay for around $73 including postage. Game came from the UK.

Fast delivery and no problems whatsoever, so I'd recommend them as well.
