Guitar Hero 5 DLC exclusive to title

PS3 News | Content won't be compatible with Guitar Hero: World Tour.
Downloadable content released for the upcoming Guitar Hero 5 will not be compatible with previous GH titles, confirmed website Destructoid, after speaking with an Activision rep.

In a move which will phase out DLC for older GH games, the rep said "the advancements and innovations made to the franchise, do not allow for downloadable content to be backwards compatible with Guitar Hero World Tour."

Presumably, the improvements might refer to the slight changes made to some of the band movements. Some good news though, don't worry about your current purchased songs. There will be a feature to export current content for Guitar Hero 5, which will then need to be re-downloaded with the new game additions.

Yet another reason why I'm gonna give this one a miss (after having owned every other one bar Aerosmith). Well, at least return it after playing Judith a couple of times.

So... you're going to skip it because you can't play the DLC on older titles?

That'd be like getting pissed off because Modern Warfare 2 maps aren't going to work with Modern Warfare.

He speaks the truth. It's one of the few songs I want to play on GH5. Spent way too much money on my RB content to worry about this anymore.

If there was any one reason to make anybody buy the game, it would be singing along to Du Hast. =D

Well, I don't see any problems with this. It's not like people raged when GHIII content wasn't compatible with GHII and if I recall correctly the only content that worked with both WT and GHIII was the Death Magnetic track pack.

can anyone say that they didnt see that coming? its not that they cant make the dlc backwards compatible, its that they dont want to

I said another reason (as in there is more than one, and admittedly this one isn't exactly big). I think I'm just sick of GH in general now, Metallica was the last one for me.

EDIT: Unless they finally make a goddamned Led Zeppelin one.

I still want an Autralian Guitar Hero, that would be my most prized possession ever.
