I'm probably alone in thinking these look pretty average. The advatanges of mega textures is clear, and in that area it looks very nice, but the overall imagery is very unnappealing to me.
I really dislike how so many modern game engines have a habit of making things look so soft. Metal doesn't look like hard steel, and instead almost like soft rubber. It's a problem I feel also plagues games like UT3.
Yeah, EatChildren, you're right. I think the problems that plague games nowadays is the overly use of bloom. It just makes everything look soft. The water looks like furry grass, and although it is easy on the eyes, it just makes it fake in some ways. Bloom is nice in some ways, but developers need to control when they use it.
Was there ever not hope for the PC market? It might not do so well at retail, but online purchasing and services are here and now. Also with a '10 year lifespan' on the current consoles, expect PC tech to outpace the consoles by a long shot by the end of that.
Really trying not to be hyped about this game (it always ends in disappointment) but this game is looking really promising. Funnily enough this game most reminds me of Full Throttle...the whole driving through desert in what felt like an open world.
im not understanding how people arnt thinking that this game looks great. These are probably some of the best visuals ive seen in some time. As for the bloom thing? there is next to no bloom being used in this game..judging from the screen shots. i wouldnt mind seeing how this game turns out
It looks ok... doesn't really "WOW" me though. Is it meant to have a cartoony style to it, ala Prince of Persia (I didn't think that was the case, thought Borderlands was the cartoony post apocalyptic title), because that's the vibe I'm getting from that last pic.
In fact, I could have sworn that the other Rage pics I saw were a crap ton better than all of those combined, maybe I'm thinking of a different id game though.
