And the way they've gotten the 87 bazillion weapons into the game is awesome. Basically what they've done is written a weapons creation AI which creates the weapons inside the game.

Right now for me it's just the decision of whether I get this on PC or 360. I'm majorly leaning towards the PC.

Can someone give me a cliffnotes on what this game is all about?Seems like fallout and <insert rpg here> had a love child?

while i don't know enough to clarify, i'd have thought "Fallout" would've been the inserted RPG there.

Fallout, UT and Diablo from what I can tell. A sexy three-way.

Thats probably the best way of putting it Cerebral!

Here is a website that explains the game a bit more:

I loveeeeeeeeee the idea of the story sounds so awesome.

In the distant future, several colonization ships head to Pandora, a planet on the edge of the galaxy. The colonists are drawn there in search of a better life as well as vast mineral resources said to be on the planet, free for anyone's taking, akin to a futuristic gold rush. Some time after settling, the colonists discover that there is little the planet offers, aside from some decrepit alien ruins. Those who have money leave, and the remaining population devolves into chaos and lawlessness. Some of the settlers seek to get rich quickly by discovering alien technology. Most others are just trying to survive. After seven earth years, the planet's slow orbit brings a transition from winter to spring, and many horrifying creatures emerge from hibernation.

A beacon of hope for the remaining colonists emerges in the form of a mysterious vault carved in the side of a mountain. This vault is said to contain vast stores of alien technology and secrets. The only problem is that the people who discovered the vault were completely wiped out by some sort of protective force. The only evidence of their discovery is a scattered radio transmission, proclaiming the vault's majesty, but not its location.

Here is a NEW video of borderlands:

Going to be awesome! This is going to be a purchase for me.

Hahaha!

Synopsis of video: Randy Pitchford, executive producer of Borderlands, spends a full 3 minutes explaining that Borderlands is DIABLO streamlined into an FPS with the art-style of CRACKDOWN without ever mentioning DIABLO or CRACKDOWN! icon_wink.gif

Can't wait for this one - it looks like a perfect marriage of the things I love best in games. Seriously, this game is like some kind of crazy utopian dream meld or something. I mean... come on... procedurally generated guns!!! What more could you want?!
I just hope the guns have like ranks in rarity aka diablo 2 trait, also different colours for the names of the guns to also indicate rarity. If it does my mind will be blown!

Well, from what he was saying it sounds like they've basically cribbed the mechanics of D2 already - I'd be really surprised if there weren't rares/uniques/etc.

I'd like to see the min/req specs for PC - I'd prefer to get it for that than consoles, but if there's a question that I won't be able to play it decently then I'll just snap it up for 360.

After watching that video I get the impression that Randy Pitchford gets a raging erection everytime he talks about Borderlands. Then again I do as well. The world is all good.

I'll be checking the PC requirements when they're released just like Karai and if I can't run it decently I'll be going over to the 360 as well.

Yeah well you only just ordered your PC and spent like $3000 on it. If it didn't run this brilliantly I would say there was something majorly wrong with the world.

My PC was purchased like mid to late last year so it should still be able to run it without too much of a problem. The cel shading graphical style should hopefully mean it won't take quite as much to run it. Hopefully...

Holy **** people i think i just **** my pants. I got this from the borderlands forum:

How many guns?!
Borderlands has more guns than any other game. We stopped counting a while ago.

What are guns like?
There are many classes of weapons (such as shotguns, sniper rifles, etc). There are also many manufacturers that all impart different bonuses and features to the weapon. Some of these features include elemental damage. The weapons are generated procedurally, and are assigned rarity values and level restrictions.

Rarity?
Rarity is represented by a color-coded system that many gamers are familiar with. Purples are currently the rarest of the rare, "epic" loot. You'll be able to tell how rare the item you got was from this system.

What else is there?
Guns are not the only items you'll find. There are also grenades and many mods for them, as well as other available items that have not been detailed yet.

Loot System?
We haven't currently announced details regarding party loot distribution options.

What Are Elemental Effects?
Guns can come with a chance to deal elemental damage to enemies - shock, corrosive, incendiary, and explosive are types that are known. Different types are advantageous in different situations - for instance, shock weapons deplete shields effectively.

Vehicles?
Borderlands has vehicles that you can use in combat and to get around from place to place. The standard runner has been shown, but few details have been discussed regarding customization as of now.

EPIC!!!!
