Fight Night Round 4 update on the way

PS3 News | Players to get option to use button controls.
Earlier today Electronic Arts announced that an upcoming update to Fight Night Round 4 which will add a feature that many players have been asking for - the option for players to use the controller's face buttons to control the game (in lieu of the standard analog stick control).

EA Senior Producer Dean Richard spoke of the move in a press release, explaining the move by stating: "We strongly believe that the refined Total Punch Control is the most intuitive way to throw punches in Fight Night Round 4, but we also want fans of the franchise to have an option."

This free DLC update will be available for both the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 when it arrives this September.

As well as the free DLC, EA has also revealed that there will be another DLC pack will be released for the game in August which will contain a new gym, new equipment, an Xbox 360-exclusive alternate version of Sugar Ray Leonard, and new gameplay sliders that will allow players to tweak their boxer's stats.

Currently there is no price point or firm release date attached to the DLC.

Button mashers rejoice icon_smile.gif Hopefully analogue players and button mashers are separated in online, because there is no doubt that button mashing is quicker and a distinct advantage to the stick.

Yeah, I can't say I'm too impressed with the decision to put button controls back in. It just encourages button mashing, and you know that when playing with friends/online, its going to kill the thrill of a fair competition. I liked that fact that it wasn't just flurry after flurry of punches, and you were kinda forced to be a bit more tactical with your punch placement/usage.

Oh well, its not a big problem, nothing to throw a tantrum over, anyway.
Not that I care about the button options, but it is nice to hear of EA listening to the fans and giving them the option.

Personally I think it sucks. They made an excellent design decision to create an even battle ground but once again sooky bitches cry until they get their own way.

Reminds me of WoW whenever there is a new patch.

Although it's nice of EA to provide what the masses (of questionable skill) demand, this will only cause further grief online, as pointed out so nicely by Jason. Me, I'll much rather them fix up the stamina/punch spam issue.
