The latest Sony E3 rumour involves the announcement of a possible ‘slim’ version of the PlayStation 3 at the gaming expo. Sony has denied the rumour so far, with a Sony UK representative telling Computer and Video Games that they "currently don't have any plans for a redesigned PS3."
This rumour is likely to be proven false if past experience tell us anything; it took Sony four years to produce a slimmer version of the PlayStation 2 after its release, and ‘shrinking’ the PlayStation 3 would be a much more difficult prospect. We’ll have to wait and see.
However, the other Sony hardware-related rumour is gaining momentum. This rumour involves a new version of the PSP, allegedly called the PSP Go. According to 1Up, the new PSP will likely include a redesign “available in two SKUs, with either eight or 16 GB of built-in flash memory". The other rumour doing the rounds is that the new PSP will only play downloadable-games.
The third and final rumour is rather an old one, and relates to the possibility that Sony will release a Wii-like motion-sensing controller. The same rumour is being used for the Xbox 360 as well.
In addition, it has been speculated that a motion-sensing camera for the Xbox 360 will be unveiled at E3. The Wall Street Journal. says that the device will allow players to control activity on-screen via their bodies. This rumour is believed to be quite credible, but whether the camera is announced at E3 - or how far along development of it is - is another matter.
We'll keep you posted.
