The Witcher cancelled for consoles?

PS3 News | Developer not quite ready to address the issue.
Following numourous rumours of the console port of The Witcher's demise, CD Projekt has announced that they will soon be releasing an official statement on the matter in the near future.

The rumours began brewing when a report surfaced on Polish site PolyGamia which claimed via multiple sources that the cult hit RPG's console port had been cancelled. At this stage the developer has issued a "no comment" statement, announcing that they will shed some light on the issue "soon."

The Witcher: Rise of the White Wolf is currently intended for release on the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 in the fourth quarter of 2009.

This would be kind of a disappointment. I have it for the PC anyway so, oh well.

While I do own the PC version (but I'm not much of a PC gamer), this is quite of a disappointment for me.

Noooooooo!!!!!!

I have a terrible Pc and was looking foward to this game.

That's a real shame for those who can't get it on PC. It's a great RPG game that includes some minor action mechanics and naughty bits icon_wink.gif

The Witcher is saved for now. We all know what happens to RPG's designed for the PC when they get ported to console, look at Morrowind and Oblivion, they were even worse on console, which is one hell of an accomplishment seeing how crap the PC versions were.

The Witcher is a great game, and console players are missing a treat.

I've read somewhere (can't remembner where though) that this rumour is completely unfounded. Let's hope so, otherwise consolers are missing out!

It
It's just on hold, not cancelled:

And if you really wanted it you could just get the PC version, if your PC can run it.

Didn't Oblivion on PS3 look better than PC?

This was a must buy for me on the consoles, not having a decent PC. Bitterly dissapointed.

No. No console port of a PC game ever looks better than the PC equivalent.

... given that the PC is of sufficient power.

If you have an older PC, the console version may well look better than PC with minimum detail, textures, effects, etc.

PC oblivion also has loads of third party mods and graphical tweaks you can download to make it run better.

PC looked far better.

Besides, I was talking more about game quality rather then game graphics.
