Guitar Hero Greatest Hits set list being announced

PS3 News | Slowly - but in the order you want.
Guitar Hero Greatest Hits is scheduled for release on the Wii, Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 2 in June. The latest title in the Guitar Hero series is somewhat of a 'best of', bringing together songs from the previous Guitar Hero guitar-only games, but giving them the full band treatment complete with guitar, bass, drums and vocals as seen in Guitar Hero World Tour.

Activision has announced that fans can determine the order in which the set list is revealed from previous titles Guitar Hero, Guitar Hero II, Guitar Hero Encore: Rocks the 80s and Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock. To participate, visit GreatestHits.GuitarHero.com to cast your vote and help determine which game's songs will be announced first.

While the full set list will therefore presumably be confirmed in the next four weeks, Activision has confirmed that the following tracks will feature:

Guitar Hero
Killer Queen - Queen
I Love Rock N Roll - Joan Jett and The Blackhearts
Bark At The Moon - Ozzy Osbourne

Guitar Hero II
Them Bones - Alice in Chains
Killing in the Name - Rage Against The Machine
Message In A Bottle - The Police
Carry On Wayward Son - Kansas
Free Bird - Lynyrd Skynyrd

Guitar Hero Encore: Rocks the 80s
I Wanna Rock - Twisted Sister
Nothin But A Good Time - Poison

Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock
Barracuda - Heart
Through the Fire and Flames - DragonForce

Just to confuse matters, it should be noted that Guitar Hero Greatest Hits is being released in North America as Guitar Hero Smash Hits.

They should of put "Take Me Out-Franz Ferdinand" in there, I thought that was a good song. But Free Bird? iirc that song was one of the most suckiest tunes to ever come out of the GH franchise. So long and boring and...useless.

Did you never, like, pass after the first half of the song? It's one of the most recognisable and well known solos in the history of ever.

On top of that, I hope to god Radar Love is included. I really really do.

wasn't it retitled guitar hero: smash hits a couple weeks back?

Yes, I recall the entire song sucking.

EDIT: To make sure I've got the right song, I'm going to youtube. Brb.

EDIT EDIT: Internet going slow, only up to 4 minutes in, not as crap as I remember. Close though. Will wait for the end of the song to come.

EDIT EDIT EDIT: Ok this song is definitely as bad as I remember it being, I'm not going to knock it any further though as everyone seems to like it. But I sure hope I can forget it soon.

+1 for Freebird. Never heard it (properly) till GH and really dig it now. Greatest/Smash Hits sounds like a fantastic idea! I was just looking at my drums on the weekend and wishing I could play some of the older GH songs. Ooohh, spooky.

Killing in the Name - Rage Against The Machine
This better not be another cover version.
Sure, it was freaking awesome to have in the game. But then it was really disappointing to have it as a cover version.. it sounded pretty far from the original.

Activision are still saying it will be Greatest Hits here (and elsewhere).

Oh god man... you best be trollin' but your subsequent post tells me you aren't (or you are a pro). Freebird is an amazing GH track. When an audience screams 'play some Skynard!!!!' that's what they want.
This is shaping up to be a great list for those who don't have the previous GH games.

ah ok. not sure how i missed that.

on the note of killing in the name of, it SHOULD (going by the recent gh games, don't think theres been an announcement about it though) be the original version instead of a cover. censored to hell though (as Eyce noted) unless they go for an m rating, but yeah, it can't be anywhere near as bad as the gh2 cover was.

I find it amusing that a 5 year old can go into any cd store and buy rage against the machine, yet if they wanted to put the uncensored version into a game, his mother would have to go buy it.

So this is an actual game with a disc as opposed to DLC? Nice. I've been thinking for a while they should do something like this, somehow missed the news that they were releasing it.

I hope they include a Ramones song.
