This week's PlayStation Store update

PS3 News | Pon-pon Patapon!
Another week and another PlayStation store update. While this update isn't as large as previous ones, this week brings us a healthy heaping of happy PSP titles, including Patapon 2, as well as a demo of The Wheelman and some more add-ons and trailers.

Both the full version of the PSP game Patapon 2 and a demo have been released on the store, chronicling the little warrior tribe's further campaigns of war in sixty new levels. Using drums to communicate orders to the Patapon, it's part rthymn game, part strategy and all insane. The full version is up for AUD $49.95 and is 326 MB. The demo is 126 MB.

The Wheelman demo for PlayStation 3 puts you in the shoes of Vin Diesel, in what is promised to be the 'ultimate car chase experience'. You can grab it for 1427 MB.

The store has also been updated with a couple of PlayStation classics for use on PS3 and PSP, including Hi-Octane for AUD $8.45 and 35 MB, and Street Skater 2 for AUD $8.45 and 121 MB.

In terms of add-on gamepacks, there is the 'National Geographic Prehistoric Quiz' for Buzz for AUD $12.95, an additional character (Sackboy) for Everybody's Golf: World Tour for AUD $1.25, and a free Movie Pack for Trivial Pursuit.

Rock Band has been updated with 'All I Want' and 'The Kids Aren't Alright' by the Offspring, as well as 'Losing My Religion' by REM and 'The Way That It Shows' by Richard Thompson, for AUD $2.45 each. Guitar Hero World Tour gets 'Audience of One', 'Death Blossoms' and 'Ready to Fall' by Rise Against for AUD $3.45 each, or together in a pack for AUD $9.25.

Finally there are trailers for inFamous, Watchmen: The End is Nigh, Rag Doll Kung Fu: Fists of Plastic, and the Fortress level of Pain. There is also a new wallpaper for Crash Commando.

Sounds like a good update this week. I loved Hi-Octane back in the 486 era (along with every other Bullfrog game) but I might pass on it for now. Wheelman sounds interesting with vehicle combos and fatalities (of a sort), pretty hefty download though.

Sony: you need to add PSP game support to the PS3 so I can play Patapon!

Patapon, yesss. I've been playing the Japanese demo and the improvements to the game are great, like being able to evolve units (rather than killing them off to replace them) and more indicators to the beat etc.

Anyone know if there's a bonus if you play the demo before the full game like the first one?

Oh yay another PSP game, how exiting.

I wish Suikeden would hurry the hell up and be released on our PSN.

All these new Burnout Paradise game packs are way too expensive for such little content. One or two free things, then BLAMO! we get flooded with overpriced content.

Lucky I have a US copy of the game so I don't have any temptation to buy those packs. Even though the Janson 88 Special is awesome.

To buy every pack to date would cost a total of $70.25.

^^ That's exactly what I've been ranting about for ages. They expect us to pay $70 for a dozen new vehicles, and a crappy local multiplayer mode that is no substitute for splitscreen that should've really been there in the first place. $70! That's almost the price of a new release game, and it's nowhere near the amount of content you'd get in a full retail release. I don't know why so few people see this, and give EA/Criterion a free ride for the aforementioned 1 or 2 free DLC packs. The sad thing is, there's still at least 2 DLC packs to go, so it's highly likely that the total amount you'd spend is $100+

$70? I know the party pack was $15. How much are the complete car packs each then? $20?

I've got the party pack but not the extra car ones, overpriced as you say. Maybe once they're all out they'll discount them as a super-bundle? =)

Agreed this is stupid now, and it isn't overpriced in America, and that's what's annoying. They are charging more than double what the Americans are, even after conversion rates, they are over charging 20-25%

Speaking of the U.S. store, it got some great demos today, including a PSN title WWI flying shooter called Red Baron Arcade and Chronicles of Riddick demo..

Yikes BurnZ that does add up quickly. I wouldn't count the time savers pack though, it's just to unlock the existing cars.

Are any of the new cars any good? The Boosy Specials sound like they might give an edge online but I don't fancy spending $20 just to drive something that looks slightly different for the Toys.

And with the new Qore episode, subscribers get High Velocity Bowling for free. I've wanted to try it for a while but didn't think it was worth the price.
