LittleBigPlanet gets a taste of Metal Gear Solid

PS3 News | Play LBP Solid Snake style from next week.
Sony has announced that Media Molecule's adorable platformer LittleBigPlanet will receive a variety of trinkets inspired b Kojima Productions' enormously popular stealth-action series Metal Gear Solid next week in the form of the Metal Gear Solid Level Pack.

Media Molecule and Konami have teamed up to deliver the Metal Gear Solid Level Pack which will feature five new story levels, one challenge level, twelve new trophies, and a host of level parts and stickers with a distinctly Metal Gear Solid theme to them (as seen in the featured images in our media panel).

The level pack will also include a new weapon dubbed the Paintinator, which will let Sackboys and girls everywhere experience hours of fun with a paint gun as they traipse through the world of LittleBigPlanet. If you want to experience paintball shenanigans without forking over cash, don't fret, players will still be able to experience the Metal Gear Solid Level Pack by either joining an online host that's playing it, or by playing any of the user-made levels that include any of its content. Though be warned, as stated by SCEA Marketing Manager Mark Valledor on the PlayStationBlog: "you won't be able to keep any objects [you earn playing the Metal Gear Solid levels online if you don't own the pack], but you can have tons of fun just playing."

Currently no price has been announced for this premium content pack.

Other premium MGS themed content will also be coming to the game in the form of the Metal Gear Solid Costume Pack. The costume pack includes outfits for MGS characters: Solid Snake, Raiden, Meryl and Screaming Mantis, which players can purchase in a bundle for USD $5.99 or purchase separately for USD $1.99.

Both the Metal Gear Solid Costume Pack and Metal Gear Solid Level Pack will be available from the PlayStation Store this coming Tuesday, December 23.

This game just keeps getting better and better.. It's a shame it isn't selling as well as it should.. I keep telling everyone I know who has a PS3 to get it.. and those that don't I tell to buy it FOR this game..

They called the Paintgun level "Paints of the Patriots". They missed a perfect chance for "Guns of the Paintriots". I mean, come on. What is this, amateur hour?

LBP is an amazing game, mix it with a little MGS and it couldn't get much better! icon_smile.gif

This looks awesome, can't wait for this. I'm hoping the content will be free seeing it comes out just before x-mas. I remember last year there was a free DLC pack for Folklore as an X-mas present.

Was just checking my trophies on LBP and the trophies for the MGS levels are already on there.. Just look at all your trophies (if your LBP updated in the last 2-3 days) and you'll see them there at the bottom..

Why is the blog link pointing to example.com? It's here until someone fixes the link.

The blog says US$5.99 - so it'll be around AU$10 or $12 hopefully. Seems reasonable for adding extra gameplay elements and story levels =)

I threw $30 on the store for LBP, this'll be bought. The game is absolutely sensational (well in the 24 hrs since I first pupt it in), and the gaming theme looks and levels will be very sweet.

Hopefully this leaves potential other cross gaming LBP levels

So this is the reason they're deleting copy-righted levels...
Guess I'll have to buy this pack, the costume and the gun are just too good to miss.
