Call of Duty: World at War launch party announced

PS3 News | Mark your calendars, Melbournians.
Alienware and Activision have let us know that they are holding a launch party for the release of the upcoming Call of Duty: World at War on 8th November, in Melbourne at Swinburne University. The party will be limited to 800 attendees as well as press, and will go for 24 hours, with 100+ Alienware Desktops and 100 Xbox 360's running Call of Duty: World at War and Quantum of Solace.

In addition, they'll be running an indoor 'lazer skirmish' game in an underground car park, and free energy drinks from V will be provided throughout the night. AMD, ATI, Razer, Edifier, LG and Microsoft will also be attending the event to show off their products, and you'll be able to meet the promo girls from ATI and V, as well as the 'Alienware World at War Girls'. Every attendee to the event will also get a free Call of Duty: World at War showbag, which includes a mug, dog tags, hat, t-shirt, pen, lanyard and Spider-Man 3 for PC.

The party starts at 4pm on Saturday, November 8th in the Atrium of Swinburne University's Hawthorn campus. If you want to be one of the first in Australia to play Call of Duty: World at War, you can buy tickets to the party by heading over to the official website.

Just so people know the party will be held at the Hawthorn campus of Swinburne. In case people feel like going you know...

Anyway I knew my Uni was awesome but holding the COD launch party? Seems it's better than I thought.

Laser, not lazer. It's an acronym for Light Amplification by Stimulated Emission of Radiation.

Sorry, pet peeve.

I might be up for this if it had been a release date for CoD4, but to be honest despite that World at War looks like a solid game, I'm sick of WW2 games.

I assume its laser (Light Amplification by Stimulated Emmision of Radiation) and not lazer.

Maybe it's actually a "Light Amplification by Zamacueca Emissions of Radiation"?

The only thing is that you're paying $30 to hang around two games that have yet to completely shown themselves for 24 hours.

It'd suck to be there if the games ended up being poor.

I'd love you forever if someone got me a showbag from there.
