SingStar update today

PS3 News | Did somebody say... SongPacks?
Since SingStar was released almost a year ago now on the PlayStation 3, a little option on the SingStore has been bugging us a little bit. A section called 'SongPacks' has been sitting there, empty, since the game debuted, and a lot of us were wondering what these SongPacks would include. An update from the official SingStar gang has confirmed that the first two SongPacks will be released today, along with the regularly scheduled fortnightly update - and the packs feature none other than... Queen.

The two SongPacks are as follows:

Ultimate Queen 1:
  • Bohemian Rhapsody
  • One Vision
  • Crazy Little Thing Called Love
  • Killer Queen
  • Bicycle Race

Ultimate Queen 2:
  • We Will Rock You
  • Another One Bites The Dust
  • Who Wants To Live Forever
  • I Want It All
  • We Are The Champions

While we can not confirm the price of these for Australian stores just yet, they've been given a pricetag of £4.49 for UK owners. It's also been confirmed that - at least at this stage - the tracks can not be downloaded seperately.

UPDATE: The cost of the Queen SongPacks on the Australian SingStore are $11.45 each.

Along with the Queen packs comes the regular update of tracks, listed here:

  • Coldplay - Talk
  • Flaming Lips - Do You Realize
  • Good Charlotte - The River
  • Jet - Are You Gonna Be My Girl
  • Maximo Park - Our Velocity
  • Natasha Bedingfield - Unwritten
  • Panic! At The Disco - Nine In The Afternoon
  • Paul McCartney - Wel All Stand Together
  • Pidgeon Detectives - Everybody Wants Me
  • Spandau Ballet - True
  • Stone Roses - Waterfall
  • Stone Roses - Fool's Gold
  • Ultravox - Vienna

You'll notice from this list that they are now starting to release songs that were originally only available by purchasing the SingStar: Volume 2 disc that was released a few months ago. Apparently the fortnightly updates from this point on will feature a list of tracks as normal, along with new additions to the SongPacks section of the store; so stay tuned, as always, and we'll let you know what's being added to the store as soon as we find out.

If I had Singstar I would be all over Bohemian Rhapsody. Bit of a dick move making you pay for a pack to get it (especially with stuff like We Are the Champions in the other pack), but its Bohemian Rhapsody, damn it. Galileo Figaro Magnifico-o-o-o.

Australia will not be receiving The Pigeon Detectives - Everybody Wants Me. That track will only be released in the UK + Ireland.

About time they start releasing songs that will actully make people buy singstar(or just good songs in general)! It looks like they are starting to put a little bit more effort into the PS3 version.
