Guitar Hero III gets Metallica DLC

PS3 News | Give me that which I desire.
Activision has today announced that Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock will be the lucky recipient of the first full downloadable album for the Guitar Hero series with Metallica's latest studio album Death Magnetic set to be available for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 versions of the game later this week.

Priced at a whopping 1440 Microsoft Points (which equates to approximately $27.95), the PlayStation Store and Xbox Live Marketplace download will also feature two Guitar Hero-exclusive versions of "Suicide & Redemption" and is said to be forward-compatible with the upcoming Guitar Hero World Tour, which is due out later this year.

The Death Magnetic track list is as follows:

  • That Was Just Your Life
  • The End of the Line
  • Broken, Beat & Scarred
  • The Day That Never Comes
  • All Nightmare Long
  • Cyanide
  • The Unforgiven III
  • The Judas Kiss
  • Suicide & Redemption (Extended Solo Ver. 1)
  • Suicide & Redemption (Extended Solo Ver. 2)
  • My Apocalypse

Metallica's Death Magnetic will be available from the PSN and XBL from this Friday.

I hope they use Rhythm Guitar for the second guitar in GHWT. Nothing against Trujillo but this album certainly would be fun playing both guitars. Can't wait to see the solo in The Unforgiven III, insane. Drumming should be pretty intense too, lucky Hetfield's vocals on this one is fairly straightforward.

FREAKKIN SWEET!!!!!

Just when I thought I couldn't choose between GH and RB, Activision go and do this. Bye Bye EA, I will buy your game when I, (if I), get sick of GH:WT.

It'd be extra nice if this meant that all GH3 DLC would be forward-compatible with GHWT, just like this pack is.

So... I have to fork out $18 for the CD or about $26 for the digipack, and then another $25 to play it on Guitar Hero? As much as i love Metallica, that's going a little far...
