Sony made the big announcement during their press conference at Leipzig. Other than the obvious, PS3 160 will feature specifications identical to the current model. As an added bonus though, the machine will come with around EUR 70 of bonus downloadable content. We aren't actually sure what that content contains, but Sony bigwig David Reeves says it will be "announced closer to release date".
This new super PS3 will come at the cost of EUR 449 (AUD $758). As of yet, there is no word of an Australian release, but we will keep you posted.
News of the 160 PS3 comes before the 80GB PS3, announced during E3 in July, even launches in PAL regions, with it hitting Europe on Friday and Australia on the 28th.
Also, Reeves revealed that a PS3 wireless keyboard was on the way.
"It's very compact, easy to use and detachable to Sixaxis and Dual Shock controllers," said Reeves. It's similar to a Blackberry keyboard, and comes complete with a touchpad to help make navigation simple. It's due out in the states in November, and in Europe by the end of the year.
As a side note, Reeves also said that Sony has sold 14 million units worldwide, with 6 million units in PAL regions in reach by the end of the month.
