E3 2008: Bioshock to get DLC exclusive to the PS3

PS3 News | Challenge Rooms.
2K Games has just announced during its E3 press conference that the PlayStation 3 version of Bioshock will be receiving some rather exclusive downloadable content.

The content comes in the form of Challenge Rooms, and will be a puzzle orientated experience, with less emphasis on shooting things. Instead, players will be encouraged to put the game's plasmids to use in order to solve puzzles and advance to the next room.

Bioshock was released on the Xbox 360 last year to much fanfare. The game sees players take control of Jack as he surfaces into the isolated sea world of Rapture, which just happens to be full of little girls and angry giants in diving suits.

Bioshock on the PS3 is currently scheduled for a release in November.

Damn, the sounds awesome fun, why couldn't of added that to the 360 version!!!!!!

For all PS3 owners who havn't played this, you're in a real treat, this is a fantastic game and with the added challenge rooms it sounds like Bioshocks answer to Portal.

a win for PS3 i see - good on Sony. Is there any news on any more DLC for the 360 version -

Recomendation, turn off the game two thirds of the way through, it goes from fantastic to balls. The challenge rooms sound fun though.

^ i disagree - i loved the final act of the game, but to each their own.

I'm with Obsolete --> From start to finish I loved every moment of it!! One of the best games ever...

Looks like I'll have to advise my mate with a PS3 to buy it so I can play the challenge rooms...

Well, this is certainly something of a strike back by Sony - MS stole GTA4 DLC, now they get the DLC for an equally famed franchise.

I'd be sad about missing this on 360 if I actually had the balls to play this game more than 3 minutes at a time before yelping like a wounded kitten and switching the screen off, turning all the lights on, and playing Bob Marley for a few hours while watching online episodes of Care Bears.

Though come to think of it, ever since "I am Legend", Bob Marley music scares me, and I always thought that Care Bears were evil. But that's besides the point.

I loved the first bit but after the big twist everything just fell apart.

Suspension of disbeleif was completly ruined when going for the bad ending killing the little girls, the chick saves me and lets me ressucitate in a room full of them, then it got further broken when playing the bit were your plasmids go haywire, I ended up selecting plasmids I didn't actually have, like the Big Daddy pheremone one.
That coupled with the stupid **** fetch quests completly ruined what was otherwise a fantastic game.

Man concidental that you mention I am Legend, I feel exactly the same about that movie as Bioshock, fantastic at the begining then turns into arse for the last third icon_razz.gif

I loved the whole the game and I liked the way the story worked it's way out. I think I'll pick up the PS3 version when it comes out to have a go at the extra bits and see if they make any improvements.

the revival bit is a bit odd when you choose the "evil" path, but then i read it as the woman (i've forgotten her name) putting more faith in your "ends" meeting her "ends" regardless of whether your "means" conincided.
besides, you aren't really a threat to these "Little Sisters" simply because they weren't infected by the slug. there was no ADAM to gain.

as for the plasmids changing, that was the point. your body is mutating randomly, and finding plasmids that you mightn't ordinarily have.

i do agree about the fetch quests though - that did seem a little artificial. especially when one part was delivered to another location by inept couriers.
i think i would've preferred a cutscene similar to Quake 4's change.
but still, i definitely disagree that the final third of the game wasn't worth playing, but like i said, to each their own.

EDIT: my apologies if anyone hit some spoilers then, seems the EFEFEF color change method doesn't work any more.

Thing is about I am legend, is that the booke really did have a better ending than the movie. The book entails the main character getting captured by the weird zombies, only to learn they are not totally zombified and have a whole new life running underground etc where they have a new society, he is sentanced to death, but as he walks to his cell he realises everyone is really afraid of him, cowering when they see him etc, before he realises that he has turned into the monster, or the hunted, capturing innocent monsters etc and killing them like you see in his lab, so he decides to commit suicide with the aid of the monster he captured halfway through who he 'turns human' in the movie. The movie is just stupid where he just 'sacrifes himself'

As for this bioshock news, probably would have hit harder if the ps3 didnt get bioshock a year after xbox 360, i think thats a decent trade for microsoft, also the contingent of bioshock players has really dropped now anyway, ive still gotta go finish it :/
