No 'trophies' for Call of Duty 4

PS3 News | Reward system 'much too late' for PS3 shooter.
According to a post on the official Infinity Ward forums, the developer will not be making use of the new PlayStation 3 Trophy system for its critically acclaimed FPS Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare.

Infinity Ward's Communications and Community Manager Robert Bowling, otherwise known as fourzerotwo on the forums, stated that the reward system had simply been implemented too late. "At this time, we have no plans to patch in Trophy support for Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare for the PS3," he said. "Much like DualShock rumble addition to the PS3, the support for these new features have come much too late for us to add it to Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare due to our current production schedule."

Bowling said Infinity Ward would have supported the Trophy and DualShock rumble features if they had been available earlier. "We would have loved to have these in the game at launch if the support was available, or shortly after," he explained.

Sony's Trophy feature was launched with the PlayStation 3 2.40 firmware update earlier this week. However, the update was later taken down due to technical issues.

Are they trying to say the game has no replay value and a 7 hour story is too long o.o

Surely seeing how big Activision (it is Activision isn't it?) is they could spare some time for us :[

i think they are trying to say they are too busy with other projects and stop working on something they believe to be finished which is fair enough
and its infinity ward's decision not activision you would think

I wonder how many other developers will not patch there games like this.

I guess you can kinda understand. We are talking about games that were released months and months ago, so that means the developer would have finished it even longer before that..

I truly dont expect many games to be updated with trophy support, but thats ok, its what developers do going forward thats important..

Seriously, this game would be easier to add trouphies too if they are based off the 360 verison. All the achievements are just finishing the single player on different difficult levels and doing about 10 'set peices'. I would have thought it would be pretty easy addition.

It would be relatively easy to add, sure, but from their point of view it's a total waste of developer resources, and won't sell any more units. I'm glad they've stood up and told us straight out they won't be doing it. I hope other developers will do the same. When I buy my PS3 end of the month I'm going to be hesitant in what I play, not knowing if it'll be updated after I finish the damned thing...

Warhawk is an old game and that is getting trophies, so the argument that this game is to old to get trophies is just stupid.

I'm kind of OK with old 3rd party games not getting trophies, just as long as Sony forces every game released from Christmas 2008 to have trophies.

Well, LittleBigPlanet is getting trophies, so I wouldn't mind if every other game this year didn't have trophies, as long as LittleBigPlanet does.

but warhawk is still being worked on with booster packs and all that.

Not to mention the fact that Warhawk is made by a Sony affiliate and is a PS3 exclusive, while COD4 is a third party game that is multi console and probably no longer on their radar to care about..

At the end of the day, trophies for all the games I have would be great (even better if they were patched and I didnt have to replay them ALL again) but it isnt going to happen..

As said earlier, at least its better to know definitely no than sit here and hope for something that isnt going to happen
