Metal Gear Solid 4 still coming June 12th

PS3 News | Now who breathed a sigh of relief?
During the week several retailers started amending their release dates for Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots to the 19th of June, for some unknown reason. Retailers normally get the jump on publishers when it comes to release dates, because they are often aware of supply issues quicker.

Well, the good news is that Guns of the Patriots is still set for release on the 12th of June. Atari, the distributor for Konami products in Australia, has sent out an updated release schedule and Metal Gear Solid 4 is still down for the 12th of June. Looks like the worldwide release stays.

Ah, Luke, a man after my own heart, publishing the stories I want to see.

Marvellous news, but I still remain caaautttiouusss until I have that damned game in my covetous mitts.

Given that its... you know... Atari... I trust retailers more.

Atari are the same people who claimed Eternal Sonata would be out on time right up until the end and even claimed it WAS out a week before any retailers had it.

Good news. IGN UK just put up their review, 9.9/10 :O

Yeah, fear Atari for their lack of being able to stick with shipping dates. AoC is a prime example. Any retailers who get their stock shipped from them directly are often screwed over thanks to stuffups.

Expect it on shelves in EB and game, and hope everywhere else has it.

Great news, its been bothering me all week the idea of staying away from some of my favourite forums because of the possible delay.

Game looses .5 of a point on replayability, but the review makes no mention of MGO. Think there treating it as a seperate game?

As they should, for it is a separate game. A demo no less, if I am not mistaken.

As far as that review is concerned, I don't believe it. Large review sites reviewing large release games early and giving them 9s and 10s lately is getting a bit suss. GTAIV 10/10... it was good but not that good. I love the MGS series, and I know I'll love this one, but I sincerely doubt hype or some such did not affect this review. icon_neutral.gif

I'll only believe in this worldwide launch when I have MGS4 in my grubby mitts on June 12. Until then it's nothing but a happy dream.

I'm pretty sure that the version of MGO that gets packaged with MGS4 is the full version. It'll get downloadable content from the PSN over time, and the standalone MGO will just be the version from MGS4 with the PSN content on the disc. It's not just a demo that comes with the game. If MGS3 Subsistence's review included the online game then MGS4's should have, too.
