Resident Evil 5 to have 2 player co-op?

PS3 Rumour | Recently pulled web article suggested so.
According to a now non-existent preview article on GamesRadar, Resident Evil 5 is said to contain a co-op feature which allows players to drop in and out at will - much like the LEGO Star Wars titles have done in the past.

When the second player drops out of the action, the character will revert back to AI control to enable the first player to continue on through the game minus a real-life buddy.

Resident Evil 5 is due for release sometime in 2009.

Can't really complain about the addition of co-op but I hope it works well like in Gears of War for example.

Her.

A few clever internet people managed to save the images attached to the article before it was pulled, as well as a few more details (God Hand like dodge controls, blind firing, The Mercenaries returning, etc).

yay, now i don't have to go back to obscure 1 & 2, or outbreak 1&2 for my co-op survival horror action!

Ok I think I see what your trying to say. Is it the fact that all the fear of being alone won't be present?

Like if there was a co-op mode and you knew that that was there, while in single player mode you'd probably just quit and complete the game in co-op, depriving yourself of moments which would be made ten times scarier by yourself.

Seriously though 9/10ths of RE4 was isolation. Which built up the biggest fear ever imaginable...regenerators grrrr....

Its atmospheric horror imo...especially at the island. Too scared to turn around every corner...too scared to open every door, every bullet becomes to feel like your last. Ammunition drain is not good at times like this.

i found the regenerators to be the only really scary part of re4...the rest was just pure action

the co-op should be cool though, but is very much against everything resident evil used to stand for

Are we talking about RE4 here? You're describing RE1.

RE4 scares the poopie out of me. I'm not a horror kinda guy so yeah,
pretty much scared to do anything in it - let alone RE1.

I did enjoy knifing that giant to death when I had no health though. icon_biggrin.gif

I ran out of bullets on RE4 when there were regenerators...>< I had to run for my life, and I ended up knocking the regenrator to the floor, ran past his body and he jumped on me from the ground.

Perhaps the scariest moment of my life.ever.

Yeah RE4 wasn't really scary.
And I'm genneraly a humungous pussy, but the regenrators were the only bit that kind of scared me. Even then after you get the heat goggles its just like

*BAM! WEAKPOINT FOR MASSIVE DAMAGE MOTHER ****!*

The game was scary due to the intensity of the fights. Hearing that chainsaw start up in the distance when you're already struggling to fight off hordes of crazy bastards is a lot scarier than the whole 'something jumps out at you after you've been running around hallways for ten minutes' scary.

Also the fact that your health drains so fast and your always find yourself in a rush to find more medical herbs. Some of those enemies would take you out in seconds for instance the first time you meet the chainsaw dudes in the pit - that was scary because you know what there capable of.

^ Probably for that reason I always took the El Gigante route. >_>
