PlayStation Day 08: Killzone 2 coming in 2009

PS3 News | Sony making room for Resistance?
Sony's David Reeves has confirmed that Killzone 2 won't be released in Europe (and most probably, Australia) until February 2009.

The game is currently playable at the European PlayStation Day, but won't make Christmas, which is a bit of a shame. Currently this release date has only been confirmed for Europe, with no word yet on whether Killzone 2 will be out this year in the US, we'll let you know when we find out.

If they release it in the US before Christmas they are idiots. If *anyone* truly believes a staggered worldwide release is a good thing they need to be kicked from the company. Why not try and destroy the competition with 2 major releases (Resistance and Killzone) instead of one?

I know they want to make sure both get a fair shake but look at COD4 and Halo 3 this Christmas passed and tell me if they stole each others glory! Millions of copies sold for each game!

This is without even mentioning the region-free factor which means Sony can screw off if they think we'll wait. If it's for the quality of the game then so be it but... man, why does everyone under estimate development time?

^I think it's a good thing especially considering we have Resistance 2, Motorstorm: Pacific Rift and Little Big Planet to take over the christmas periods. That and we don't even know if they're announcing any other games till then.

Also considering Sony pushed out Guerrillas original Killzone out before Christmas back in 2004, I don't think it'd be wise to do so again, as Killzone had some nagging issues and with a few extra months could've easily been fixed.

Feb 09 is perfect for me.
