Singstar sits at the top of the charts

PS3 News | Series sells a bundle in Australia.

Sony Australia has announced some local details on the success of Singstar in Australia. 1.3 million units of Singstar software has been sold in Australia to date, with over half a million of the sales happening in 2007 alone.

Sony also revealed that "tens of thousands" of songs have been downloaded from the Australian Singstore. They've also revealed the top ten songs for Australia (which can be found below). It's no surprise which song is at number one.

wow this game has sold tonnes. Considering how many people have playstations in Australia does that mean like more than half of them ave singstar?

I think that somebody stole your sunshine.

I'm sorry, but as in real life, a rocket launcher always beats somebody singing a Pink song. My wife loves Singstar and it's alright after a few drinks, but just like most people who play this game, I sound like crap.
On the bright side, we don't have American Idol Encore in Aus, on the downside we do have High School Musical on the Wii.
Who was the idiot who wanted to make gaming appeal to a wider audience?

On topic: Seems there are a few people here who have moved up to the PS3 version - how big are the songs, on average, to download? I've been thinking about moving up into the world of Singstore but dreading the downloads (and costs...)

I think the songs are around 60 to 80 MB and cost around $2.40. Someone correct me on the price, it's been a few weeks since I bought some and I'm not home now to have a look but I know I'm pretty close.

Ah, that's not too bad (file-size, that is) - I was expecting 150-200mb each. Are they actually 'high-def' video clips?

Nope, no HD ones yet. The reason for this is 'most clips aren't available in High Definition because they're too old.' Although HD clips are still promised for the future, supposedly.

The songs only take a few minutes to download on a decent internet connection, and you can play other songs while you download... so after singing 2-3 tracks, it's there in your collection! So don't worry Karai, Len won't take too long to download.
