New Lair patch to add analog controls

PS3 News | Plus a few other neat features.
IGN reports that Lair will be receiving a free patch later this month. According to the article, the patch will add a number of new features to the game, including support for analog controls. Other elements include the option of showing a targeting icon, as well as Dual Shock 3 rumble support.

There will also be new downloadable content in the form of the Wind Dragon and Poison Dragon, who can be used in all stages. Finally, fans can jazz up their PlayStation 3’s menu interface with some Lair-inspired themes.

The patch will be released in the Japan on the 17th of April, with a release date for other regions still pending.

Would this fix the remote play problem?

Unsure, but it'd make me willing to actually give the game a go.

Will you guys post some updated impressions of the game once the patch is released?
I've always been a bit interested in lair but have shied away due to the bad press it got, so if this makes it a much more well rounded game I might purchase it.

This is a great, and unexpected, change and it's just such a shame that the reviews will always pan the game even if this fixes (we will have to wait and see!) the problems. It must have been a hard decision to say 'look we messed up: lets fix it!' while considering the cost it must have raised for what will ultimately amount to little financial gain. Hopefully the word will spread and raise their credibility back to where it was pre-Lair, as Factor 5 have always been well received.

So you guys would be interested in a small feature detailing the analog controls and if they improve the experience?

EDIT: I'm not promising anything, but it's always a possibility.

I disagree! The reviews are there for the game as it ships - if it gets 'fixed' months and months down the track then that shouldn't change the original score which was a reflection of the game as it was for anyone who bought it while it was still even vaguely new.

Edit: Run on sentences FTW

I would like a feature detailing the differences of the controls and extra content since i've been on the fence due to the control issues but wouldn't mind some epic dragon fight scenes.

Definitely, I've liked the look and idea of the game but the bad reviews made me stay away.

I'll definitely be getting this patch so I can post some impressions of how well they work and whatnot, considering I've played the game through quite extensively.

Definitely. I'm not saying change the original review score, but an indication of whether it improves the game enough to warrant a purchase would be nice

Who could say no to some angry dragon on dragon action?

I think as a service to people who are holding out to see if the patch actually improves anything, a feature on how effective the patch is for the quality of the game would certainly be a nice gesture.

And we all know PALGN are all about nice icon_smile.gif

But then the reviews cease to become relevant, and don't help anyone down the track who may be interested in a game some time after it's released. With the current state of gaming I think it's a mistake to ignore post-launch fixes that amend the major negative points of a review.
