Don't forget you get the option to not play a cliché main character!

The more I see screenshots for this game the more I get excited about it.
The inclusion of planes looks great as that was one of the things I was hoping for in GTA4 but sadly looks missing from it (maybe?.who knows what they'll add-on)

I just hope after GTA4 I'm not all free-roam action burnt out so this will have to have some pretty cool additional stuff which GTA4 lacks.
I guess the one thing which sounds awesome is the full story co-op play feature which to me is the best thing for these types of games.

If those screens got you excited, check out Street Lessons with Uncle Gary, wherein Gary Busey explains the finer point of shoving people off buildings and hurlilng demo-packs.

Honestly the first one is the one to watch, the others don't hold a candle to it.

Those vids do a good job of highlighting my main problem with this series.

Great gameplay concepts f**ked over by absolutely sh**ty presentation. What in God's name does Gary Busey have to do with any of this?! Is he voicing someone in that game? Or did they just need this kind of demented gimmick to propel their marketing campaign? Tossing people around the city sounds like a hilarious new way of making fun but I really didn't need 'Uncle Gary' to fill me in on it.

Why all the hate for the Busey man? icon_sad.gif

I think that they're really trying to show that the game is more focused on being 'light' and fun at the expense of realism, in contrast to to the more realistic GTA IV. Just trying to differentiate the product a little.

I've got nothing against the guy. I'm just scratching my head over Volition's bizarre approach to selling their game.It isn't appealing to me, and my underlying distaste for the series thanks to my disastrous first impressions isn't helping matters either.

And this really has nothing to do with my feelings for GTAIV. I'm at the point where comparing the games doesn't matter anymore. Nothing worthwhile will ever come of that. As far as I'm concerned, they are now their own entities.

I can respect that Saint's Row is going a different, lighthearted route. I'm on board for that, but I'm not feeling it. At all. Had the trailers been just a soundtrack and footage of guys being flung around, or having satchel charges strapped to their backs I'd be laughing, and it would portray the lighthearted message too.

It's stupid ploys like getting Gary Busey to act like a doped up used car salesman for absolutely no reason that make me shake my head and ask, 'Why?'. I'm trying to like this game, but THQ/Volition ain't making it easy icon_confused.gif

You make it out as if Busey needs to be pushed into that role... I'm fairly sure it come naturally to him icon_wink.gif
