Dual Shock 3 release date and price

PS3 Rumour | Surely incorrect, we hope.
The Dual Shock 3 may be launching next week in America, but PAL gamers still haven't heard anything from Sony about when we can expect to see the vibration enhanced controller on our shores.

Well, according to local retailer Topshop the wait may not be all that long, with the retailer listing the Dual Shock 3 with a release date of the 24th of April. If this date is correct then it means the controller will be available in just a few weeks time.

While the release date certainly has us smiling, the RRP for the controller does not, with the retailer listing an RRP of $99.95. Sony hasn't officially confirmed the price or the release date for the controller, so when they do we'll report back.

I'll be importing for sure.

Must be a mistake, I can't see anybody paying $100 for a controller (standard).

Have to pick up some sort of rumble for MGS4 though....

Yikes, glad I got one for $65 from play-asia (my mate was buying one and I got one along with him so postage was free for me). It works well and certainly feels better with the added weight. It's also not see-thru like the sixaxis but that's no biggie.

Topshop have never been even remotely close to 'cheap', let alone having good prices - I can only assume that when it hits stores the price will be more along the lines of $70-80... which, when you think about it, is still pretty steep for a controller (put the hatchets down, fanboys, I'm not singling out Sony with that comment).

Yep, that's what I did.

You can get one from Play-Aisa shipped for about $65 if you use one of the many $10 off coupons that are floating around lately. Then sell your old Sixaxis on eBay and it will hardly cost you much at all to upgrade.

i think that is 100% correct. got a copy of the sony magazine pulse in the mail a few days ago and they listed the dual shock 3 with a RRP of 99.95

Play-asia ftw!!!

I bought two, ordered on a Wednesday morning - had them in my hands on Friday arvo!!!

So much better than non-dual shock.

I was putting off importing one till I saw how much they were going to be here. Guess I'll be putting my order in soon.

Frell me a $100 for a controller? That's awful. =\

how much was a dualshock 2? $55? $50? how much does it cost to make something wireless?? $45 per controller? (poor argument i know) and then they will discontinue the normal sixaxis leaving everyone with no choice if they dont want to import but pay the price!!

M$ wireless, rumble $60....why is sonys $40 more then that? it has a special lithium battery blah blah blah...

Actually the retail price for the Microsoft Wireless controller is $80 ($79.95).

I do think that $100 for a controller is too much, if anything Sony should release the DS3 price point to be more in line with the Xbox 360 wireless controller.

Of course people always have the choice of just importing it for a much cheaper price, so I don't really see the big deal. If you don't like the price, buy it else where, simple.

I really wish I didnt buy a ps3.

Too expensive. Would be good if there was a trade in for old six axis + $30 or something for a DS3. I mean even $65 off playasia is alot for me icon_sad.gif i feel it would be better spent on a game. but i hate the flimsy feel and no rumble of the six axis.

Yeah the sixaxis is a pile of shit. I think it just feels wrong in your hands, feels cheap and light. The ergonomics Sony dude should get fired cause the PSP feels awful for long periods as well.

I like a few of you I was waiting for a local release but if it is $100 that is just a stupid price for a controller. Importing all the way.

well dvdcrave have it on their site with a rrp of 99.95 and selling for 87.71 so it will most likely be around the same price when it comes into stores possibly lower when it actually comes out http://www.dvdcrave.com/products/product.jsp?pid=42357

its the same price really when you want to buy a fully functional wii controller (wiimote and nunchuck) so really it seems to the standard..

but you do have to feel kinda ripped cause they said it was a thing of the past then hey wow check out the new DS3!!!

maybe trading B3NBO is possible but unlikely...imagine if you could do it for every thing that got superseeded (poor spelling maybe), it not really possible other wise i would take my ipod back and trade it with a cash adjustment for an ipod touch.

Just checked the computer here at work and its RRP is $99.95 with a release date of 24/04/08

Another bad move on sony's part. Shame.

I can confirm the $99.95 price.

Find retailers who are clearing out their stock of six axis. Here at Harveys we are doing Heavenly Sword, Lair, Motorstorm or Resistance with a controller for $99.

Yeah I saw that. Was wondering what the dillyo was. Makes sense.

Definitely import if you have the chance to, if it's seriously going to be in that price range. All online importers must be rolling in money even more than they were last gen.

Yep, I've seen that mag too, it says $99.95 icon_sad.gif

That is a complete fucking ripoff. Dead set.

I'm going to make a point of importing my DS3s when I get around to needing some.

That is just wrong, making people pay $100 for a rumble controller, which the PS2 already had one, just it was wired not wireless.

Glad I wait has I would expect for newer PS3's to come out with the Rumble already included.
