Is that an extra controller or just one by itself?

Sounds like just the one in the article.

Hard to know if this would be justified as a purchase. $59.95 is definitely on the steep side, something like $45 would be much more reasonable I think. I'll probably end up getting it though, since it could be another year or more before we see GT5 in the flesh.

They're still bundling those outdated controllers?

If they didn't then they'd be losing sales on the the new ones with the suddenly next-gen rumble in them icon_shifty.gif

Well if the retail is at $59.95, I think it's a safe bet that JB Hifi or Big W will sell it below retail, I don't think it'll be $45 but probably somewhere around the $49 - $50 mark.

i have never really understood the interest in the prologue games, are they supposed to be something in between a demo and the complete game? i steered clear of the gt4 prologue and waited it out for the full version and it mae the wait oh so much sweeter, and coupled with the logitech driving force pro it was amazing.

by the way does anyone know if the driving force pro works on the ps3 ?

I got gt4 prologue last time around. I will be trying my best to not get gt5 prologue this time around though. I found the prologue somewhat spoiled my appreciation for the full game and I never enjoyed gt4 as much as gt3 despite being all that gt3 was but more.

Awesome! thought this was still another month away at least. Will be buying this for sure, although I agree the price is a little steep.

This plus the MGS4 bundle give Sony two rather tasty PS3 packages on the horizon.

The interest in the prologue games I've never understood either, why pay for essentially a demo but I guess enough people will shell out the money for these prologue games that it's worthwhile for Sony to release the games.

As for the driving force pro, I have seen Harvey Norman advertise a bundle of GT5 Prologue and a Logitech Steering Wheel which looks like it was originally a PS2 Steering Wheel so I'm 90% certain the driving force pro should work with the PS3

My friend being the GT buff he is will pick this up probably, so yeah I get to play it for free basically.

Awesome seeing as GT is my favourite racing game.

GT5 Prologue is definitely not a demo, nor even near a demo. Sure GT4 Prologue was basically a glorified demo but this version has a lot of improvements for the GT series.

  • The ability to race with up to sixteen cars at once
  • Improved AI
  • In-Car view feature (which is fantastic!)
  • Drift Mode
  • 60 Vehicles
  • 16 tuned cars
  • Online play

etc.. etc..

THIS DEMO HAS MORE FEATURES THAN MOTORSTORM RETAIL DID!

I'll probably get negged for that, I just noticed it and thought it was funny comparing stats of this game and Motorstorm. Oh and you forgot split screen in GT5: Prologue icon_razz.gif

But... it's only a fraction of what is in GT5, right? So it's a demonstration of the new features of GT5, right...?

Someone is getting technical. Yes, it is a demonstration of what is possible in Gran Turismo 5. But it is not a "demo". Gran Turismo 5 may be a hugely different game to Gran Turismo 5: Prologue when it comes out (I'm guessing 2009), with features like damage and weather. Gran Turismo 5: Prologue is a game. Not a demo. 60 cars, 6 tracks, 16 player online, split screen, lots of different gameplay modes, etc etc.

For half the standard price of a PS3 game, you are getting more features than a lot of games these days have in their final retail version. I mean, how often do you see a demo with more than 15 cars, let alone 60? You never do, which just proves that this game is not a demo. I think Gran Turismo 5: Prologue is going to be a great game, and stands as a testament to how huge the final Gran Turismo 5 will be come release.
