Massive SingStar update on the cards

PS3 News | Thank you for the music.
While the meagre seven song update last month did little to sway the opinion of SingStar fans, a post on the semi official Sony blog Three Speech is showing fans that Sony is finally getting serious about their hit karaoke franchise.

Set for release on March 7, the latest SingStore update is set to include a whopping sixty-seven new tracks -- although only forty-six of those tracks are for us English speaking folk.

While it is disappointing to see that this release reeks of money making tactics -- as many of the forthcoming tracks are from previous PS2 SingStar titles -- the large list comprises of an eclectic mix of absolute classics, top 40 hits, Aussie favourites and some of the most cringe worthy songs in musical history (yes, I mean you Spice Girls!).

For those of you interested in singing until your lungs give out, the full list will look like this:

  • Aha - "The Sun Always Shines On TV"
  • Alice Cooper - "Poison "
  • Big Brovaz - "Nu-Flow"

damn i wish there was a way to rip all my singstar titles from ps2 to my ps3 if i bought the new one, but i spent so much money on the entire ps2 collection that sometimes skips, that i am loathe to fork out for the new one.

Yeah, it certainly would be nice if they focused on releasing some songs that weren't on the previous games... icon_shifty.gif

I think it would be much preferred if, instead of massive updates like this, people could get treated to like 5 songs a week or something.

It's absolutely perplexing to me that there were songs we saw in person at eGames that were available for download on the 'secret Sony servers' that still aren't available to the public more than 3 months later.

At least this update is bigger than usual, so I won't complain too much - I just don't see what the hold-up is, so to speak.
