Dual Shock 3 ready to rumble

PS3 News | Will be buzzing and shaking into stores this April.
In a recent announcement by Sony, it looks like PlayStation 3 gamers in the western world will be getting their hands on the rumbling controller in the near future with confirmation that both Europe and the US will be receiving their Dual Shock 3's this April for around $55.

While there has been no hard confirmation on an Australian release date, we are keeping our fingers crossed as we hope to be seeing it shortly after our European friends.

A word of warning to the cheapskates out there: you'd better start saving your pennies now, because if the pricing of the SIXAXIS Wireless Controller is anything to go by the Dual Shock 3 will sell in Australia for something around the $70-$80 mark.

That should be Dual Shock, as much fun as a Duel Shock would be. icon_smile.gif

En garde!

I really disagree with the way Sony has gone about this entire thing. First we had them telling us that rumbling was a 'last-gen' feature when it obviously wasn't, then they've charged a good $80 per controller that DOESN'T have rumble, and now that they've changed their minds and are putting out rumble controllers, it will cost a further $80 or so to get a feature that should have been implemented from the beginning. Good for people who haven't bought their PS3's yet, bad for people (me) who already spent money on getting controllers that are now basically outdated.

Sadly, while I can tolerate not having the rumble for Motorstorm or Resistance or Ratchet, I won't be able to extend that same tolerance to MGS4, and I'll break down like a small child and hand over my money, weeping and cursing Sony under my breath.

You know toasty that this is the way SONY has ALWAYS done business. Everything they say is spin. The great PLAYSTATION 3 philosophy proved unpopular at retail due to its massive cost. Everything they said about rumble, backwards compatibility and not confusing customers with multiple hardware configurations were reneged on. The PS2 had several controller configurations which needed to be updated, and products like the multi tap were rendered incompatible with every update. SONY's business philosophy IS buy it again.

It is a pain toast, I agree. All I can say is, do what I did and sell your Sixaxis controllers to raise some cash toward Dual Shocks. I actually covered most of the cost by doing this (they're good value on play-asia). You'll feel a little better when you've got one in your hands. icon_smile.gif

Mate of mine just got one from a shop in town (~$120), gonna try it out tomorrow; preparing to be gutted that I won't have one myself when I get home...

Looking forward to getting one though, will be cool to feel UT3 rumble.
