Metal Gear Solid 4 gets a 'solid' release date

PS3 News | Still no confirmation for PAL territories.

Just nipping the release window set forth since its last delay by the elderly tips of Snake's whiskers, Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots has finally received a concrete US release date of June 12, 2008.

Announced this morning during Sony's Destination PlayStation conference for retailers, details were also divulged via press release of an upcoming PlayStation 3 Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patirots bundle -- containing an 80GB PlayStation 3 and a DualShock 3 for US$499 -- to assumedly coincide with the long-awaited game's release.

Notably questioned by various overseas media outlets is the fact that June 12 falls on a Thursday, apparently a day not traditionally know for big name releases in the Americas, and a date Sony's aforementioned press release does not specifically make mention of -- a "late Q2 2008" in its stead.

Unfortunately, no news has been received on a specific release date for Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots in PAL territories. Whether Konami sticks by its simultaneous worldwide release promises of yore remains to be seen.

Well Thursday is usually the day games get released in Australia, so heres to hoping that we get it midnight June 12

Ugh.. I was really hoping for an April release -_-.

Just an interesting fact I think its a full year since the original June/July 2007 release date. Oh well at least they'll be fine tuning the greatest game of all time!!

As soon as GTA4 was announced for April, I knew we wouldn't see MGS4 until mid June. Konami have learned their mistake from putting MGS3 up against GTA3.

Anyway I think it's good they are spreading games out on the PS3. GTA4 in April, Haze in May and MGS4 in June, makes for a great Q2.

mgs4 looks good though, and worldwide releases are so much better. bloody americans.

Tasty. That MGS4 bundle is a dream come true for me, PS2 B/C and a DualShock 3 controller rather than a Sixaxis.

Do want! Hopefully it comes to Australia and at a good price.

I'm calling it: there is absolutely no chance Australia will have it on June 12. Region free means nothing, look what happened with Portable Ops on the PSP.
