I almost cried reading Rockstar's email thing about this... we're so close...

OMG I just creamed my pants, this is fantastic news.

I'll probably pre-order a US copy and wait a few more days to save $50

Well I hope the extra 6 months wait from the original release date means we get a complete, glitch free game.

I just creamed my pants, waited ten minutes to 'refill the pen' then creamed them again. Also, it's kinda cool that it's released the day after my b'day.

Speaking of birthdays, can anyone think of a Gears Of War joke that has to do with birth?

All indications suggest that the 6 months were well worth it. Hell, if the only thing they fixed was the framerate issue that were present in the earlier preview builds then I'd have taken the 6 months.

Words cannot describe how happy and relieved I am to finally have a date to look forward. Think of Elias (clerks 2) the day he finds out about the live-action transformers movie. That's me.

I'm going to place my pre-order for the special edition ASAP

Oooh a week after my b'day, I shall have to buy myself a copy.

From the preview up on IGN, it sounds like the delay was well spent by Rockstar.

*excited again*

PALGN will have a preview up very shortly, from what I hear it was definitely worth it.

Well that's great to know, I've still got it pre-ordered anyway. I guess the extra time will help me get more paid off on it icon_wink.gif

Well it's good news but bad lol, I leave on the 30th for Bali!! I will get it in the morning and play for as long as I can lol...

Im very curious to see which GTA version sells better, it will probably end up being the 360 version.

But to be true to GTA, I think I might opt for the PS3 version. That way I can play all GTA on one console ^^

If you want to play all GTA games on one machine then you'd need a PC... and you'd also need to wait for IV to get a PC port.

*grumbles about the way PC gets the shaft with GTA games*

Yes, I realize that there was a GBA version of GTA... could still be done on a PC... icon_shifty.gif

Thats it! Off to EB I go to trade in all my games and get myself a pre-order.
Not touching the 360 til April 29, just to make GTA IV that little bit better.

The good thing is you get an extra 20% trade in for your games towards GTA IV Special Edition at EB according to the email sent today which contained the following:

The big question is - has the Aussie version been broken by the OFLC? I know that it's already been rated MA15+, but was that done with some promises to 'lock down' any Australian versions of the game?

Should I hit up GPStore NZ now and pre-order, or just wait for an Australian release? I passionately HATE Australian-ised versions of games (still got my original GTA 3 for PS2!).

Well hopefully the PalGN preview will shed more light on this but anyway if you want to import it from overseas if the game gets cut, you'll find it'll be cheaper to import from Play-Asia then from GPStore NZ as the game will be region free since it's a Rockstar release afterall icon_biggrin.gif

the "Stories" games were never released to PC, were they?

so realistically, you need a BC compliant PS3 to play all the GTA games in one place (especially since GTA:GBA was a port of GTA1).

Natch - forgot about stories. I thought that the GBA version was different to the PC version though? Hrmm... shall have to make my housemate dig it out tonight and give it a look-see.

REGARDLESS! The PC iterations are always the best icon_razz.gif

Ooooohhhh maaaaah gaaaaawd...

GTA IV is my Holy Grail of gaming. It will consume my life, I know it.

Agreed, but I'll be buying a console version too.

Now, to figure out which of the consoles to buy it for... I want it for the PS3, but given the platform's track record with multiplatform games... but then again it is Rockstar... but what about all that 360 exclusive junk... I've got some thinking to do...

ZOMG GTAIV IN 3 MONTHS. Wake me when it's time. I'm going into hibernation till then.

I went for the 360 version, myself - at the time it was the better performing of the two (apparently now the two platforms are neck and neck), and theres also the added content that is 360 exclusive to think about.

Yeah, unless there is any major deficiency in the 360 version announced before launch I'll be sticking with it for the extra content alone.
I think i will be going for the 360 version because of the exclusive content...

but if that was not going to be exclusive only for 360, i would have got the ps3 version.

I wasn't going to get the special edition because of the price, but now with the 20% extra deal i will trade in Mass Effect and probably only pay another $70 with a price match from JB. awesome.

Happy they put a time down now i can book a few days off.
