Devil May Cry 4 demo this week

PS3 News | On both XBLM and PSN.
Last year, we reported that Devil May Cry 4 would be receiving a playable demo. Rumours have been flying around since then, with many sites reporting that a demo would be available for download on January 31st. That date is incorrect however, as Capcom announced today that the demo will in fact be up for download on the PlayStation Network and Xbox Live Marketplace this Thursday, January 24th.

The demo will take players through a number of different scenarios from the game, with the main attraction being the new character Nero with his 'Devil Bringer' power. The demo ends with a boss battle which should definitely leave gamers wanting more action.

Devil May Cry 4 is set for release on Feburary 7 - so check for that demo sometime on Thursday evening and look for our review in the coming weeks.

I'm going to SS rank this demo and play it till I know every single move that Nero possesses.

This is awesome news. Hopefully it will help sway me one way or the other (I'm currently undecided whether I want it or not, not having played the previous titles).

So is that Thursday our time, or US time?

It'll be US for PSN at least...as that's the normal weekly update so in the morning on Friday for us I'd imagine

I'd say you're right there BumJub. Not that that stops us from getting on the U.S store and grabbing it early though. icon_wink.gif I think I'll check this out, I haven't played any of the previous titles, but the series looks pretty interesting.

Damn, the Gamespot article has updated and sounds like the PS3 demo is delayed until Feb 1st

[UPDATE] Europeans will be able to get hold of the demo on January 24 on Xbox Live, although PS3 owners will have to wait until January 31.

Check out this site. There's a countdown for the game's release and the demo's release, and while I'm posting this the demo's countdown says 1 hour and 34 minutes. I think this is for the Japanese PSN and Live stores, so get your Japanese accounts ready.

I'm currently agonising over whether I should download straight away and murder my peak bandwidth or wait until the middle of the night.

Interesting. I would think it's for the U.S store though, why would a U.S site be advertising the Japanese release?

Demo's up on the 360!

downloading 360 demo. PS3 demo is not up yet, checked US, AUS and Jap stores.

I'll be downloading the PS3 demo regardless, and I'll also be posting a photo of missions being SS ranked, just for kicks icon_wink.gif

k, PS3 demo is up but it seems to be the Japanese store only. Downloading now, erections soon.

Confirmed, Jap store has it now.

Downloaded the 360 version and played it extensively.

360 controller sucks for DMC tbh. It's just not built for fast paced combat. But in saying that, I did get used to it over time and was getting SS ranks in combat within minutes. Nero's Devil Bringer in particular really adds a lot of interesting chains into the combat, where I was able to pull a combo and use a launcher, but grab the enemy as he launched and pull him back in for another combo. Can continue this until he dies or finish him with a Devil Bringer slam. It'll be interesting to see what other abilities he has in the final game. Can't wait to SS rank some more and try Dante out icon_smile.gif (who's probably like his DMC3 combo counterpart anyway albeit with new weaponry that'll require some training with).

Visually the game is gorgeous, and the 360 version is smooth as silk. Gonna download the PS3 version soon for comparisions, and for better control. icon_razz.gif

Matrix: Won't be disappointed, tis absolutely fantastic and any hardcore DMC fan would love it.

Just downloaded and played DMC4 from Japan's PSN. Was pretty quick too, the demo weighs in at 640MB and took me less than 10 mins. The game in english (english voice and even english subtitles) even though I downloaded from Japan. There's no options menu basically start and select your game mode.

Demo is pretty awesome, there's 2 modes - Mission: Exterminator where there's a 10 minute time and you run through the map as fast as you can within the time limit and there's Mission: Execution which is basically a boss battle with Berial.

Game is pretty awesome as expected. I like the little hand grabby thing like Bionic Commando and the features on Nero's arm is pretty cool.

Runs at a smooth 60fps a second and some of the backgrounds are absolutely gorgeous. The Berial boss battle is pretty impressive.

I was going to buy this on launch day anyway both the PS3 and Xbox 360 version only because I'm such a big fan of the series. icon_smile.gif

Best I was able to get was an A rank combo (not bad considering this is the first DMC game I've played, ever), and managed to beat the boss after a few tries (though in the end it became a bit scrappy, basically I jumped at his face and air comboed him to hell, rinse, repeat). Also agree that the 360 feels a bit wierd - I don't like how lock on has been mapped to RB - should be the trigger imo.

In any case, the game looks great and plays great. After playing Mass Effect I was astounded at this game doing the snow environments at 60fps icon_razz.gif. It's also nice that the loading times are practically nonexistant.

...why? there's zero difference between the two games.

Actually I was only going to get XB360 version locally on launch day.

It's mostly timing and location, start of Feb when it gets released here I'll grab the local Xbox 360 version, and then later down the track in March (when I'm overseas), I'll grab the PS3 version since I'll want something to play while I'm over there (I'll have access to a PS3 when I'm back in Japan).

I agree both games are identical about the only difference would be the preference in controllers.

I think the PS3 version has the edge, with the better controller and zero load times (it installs on the Hard Drive, which the 360 can't do [not even the ones with HDDs]), but other than that the versions are identical.

It's a pity there's no ranking screen after Executioner. The bullet holes come up when you beat Berial, like in DMC3, but no rank afterwards. It's also a pity that the game's set on Easy mode, because everything was dying too quickly for me to build up a nice combo. I got to Smokin' in the big Marionette fight in Exterminator, but after that everything died.

Seconded. Was way WAY too easy and enemies died too quick. I still managed to hit SS ranks in combat though although it's tough with the weak enemies.

Oh and there's still instant cancels! REJOICE!

So my most anticipated game right now.
