MGS4 Demo arriving soon.

PS3 Rumour | Snake to debut on PSN next month?
The boffins at PSW have sent Sony fans into a spin at the latest rumour surrounding the heavily-touted Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots.

If there is any truth in this rumour, players can expect to get their hands on the demo for MGS4 as early as next month - with the PSW report stating that gamers will get to take Solid Snake for a run in the Midle Eastern warzone level which was first shown at the Tokyo Game Show.

With the hype surrounding this title, Snake's debut on the PS3 is sure to send the PSN into a meltdown...

I'll believe this if Ryan Payton confirms it in his podcast this Thursday.

its like dropping blood in shark infested waters.. AND ITS WORKING!!!!

I hope so, but for a game that is coming out probably in June, next month would be a little early - considering demo's are typically released on PSN shortly (a few weeks) before retail release ..

Hard to say really, it's all down to the developer/publisher. If this is true, great news, the fans have been waiting ages for the game so this would be a nice gesture/treat. If not, bad luck I guess.

From what Ryan Payton himself has said in the past, this is very unlikely. It would be totally bloody sweet if it was true, but I'm not expecting it to be true.

Konami representatives who visited the PSW offices have confirmed that the demo will be hitting PSN next month.

"Despite Ryan Payton already stating that Kojima Productions have no plans to release a demo of Metal Gear Solid 4 onto the Playstation network, Playstation World Magazine are reporting that a demo will indeed be available in Febuary. This is a UK magazine so the Feb date is most likely for the European Playstation Store.

Thanks to TomEmo12 of Gametrailers for posting the scan.

Update:

I e-mailed the editor of PSW and asked him to confirm that this is true, and he replied that a Konami Rep confirmed that the build they played will be on PSN sometime in relation to the games release. If the game stays on track as Konami has said so far then it should arrive around Feb as the magazine states.

Original Reply:

Hi,

At the time of writing the article a Konami rep told us a demo, the demo we played in our office for the magazine article, would be on the PSN Store. It's finished, we played it, so something should be appearing this month. It could all depend on the game's final on sale date, if it has moved to May then a demo could appear later, possibly February.

Keep checking the mag, or our website www.computerandvideogames.com."

I'm guessing that after Sony's GDC Conference next month (where they will be announcing MGS4's release date and probably debuting the final trailer), then the demo will hit PSN once the conference is over.

That is true, but it is possible that someone at Konami has gone over Kojipro's heads. I hope so!

I'm not getting my hopes up, still sounds sketchy to me.

But hey, that'll just make it a nicer surprise if it actually happens (but it won't) icon_wink.gif

Even if it is released, I don't think it's worth playing the demo. I'd prefer to wait for the full game.

Demos (for me) are used as a tool to see if I like the game or not. MGS 4 is a must buy.

^^^ Completely agree. I really don't wanna ruin the experience by playing a demo first. I regretted downloading both the Uncharted and Bioshock demos, so I'll have to give this one a miss, as painful as it may be.

i'm so done with the 'must buy' phrase. Its a stupid phrase coined by websites to keep publishers happy.

Mass Effect, COD4, Halo 3 were apparently all 'must buys' but they were all just 'good games'.

^ Well the 'must buy' phrase is different for everybody. MGS 4 is a 'must buy' for me to complete the story and see what happens to poor old Snake. Same deal with Halo 3.

And those 3 games you mentioned above are like the 3 of my 'must buy' top 5 games of the year.

Surely there are games you are buying regardless captain negative?

Somethings wrong. For the first time ever, I find myself completely agreeing with something Leon has written icon_lol.gif
