- AI has been massively overhauled, and will feature a tracking system in the outdoor environments, as Snake will leave footprints behind when he walks around. Indoors, the AI will be much like that of Sons of Liberty.
- The story won't jump around. It'll flow continuously from the point you land in the jungle to the end of the game.
- Kojima and his team are currently deciding on the level of tracking the dogs will employ - whether they will stop at the water's edge like in a typical Hollywood action film, or whether they will relentlessly track you, like in real life.
- Kojima has also pointed out that infiltration of the base is up to the player, i.e. the player chooses the way he/she gets into the base. There will be multiple entrances.
- The amount of food you eat won't affect your weight (visually), but it will affect the quality of your aiming, movement speed, etc.
- Control is identical to Sons of Liberty
- The knife is used for cutting away foilage, but can also be used for interrogating enemies. This is done by using the analog buttons - the harder you press the button, the more Snake will dig the knife in, until he slashes the guard's throat.
- The amount of equipment you can carry will be limited, as the game is focused on survival.
- The team is still considering whether or not you can pick ammo and equipment up off guards.
- The codec is gone, but has been replaced by a similar device, which is said to have functions similar to a Pokédex.
- Radar will be optional, but playing without it will help with immersion.
- There will be less cutscenes in general, and they will be interactive, though Kojima has not shed any light on how this will work.
- Kojima says this will "probably" be his last Metal Gear title, though he will continue the series if he feels nobody else is capable of doing so.
- When asked if you could control vehicles, Kojima answered 'Probably....Yes'
