GTA series exclusivity clarified

PS2 News | Next GTA still exclusive to PS2.
Late last week, we announced that Rockstar and Take Two Interactive would release a double pack containing GTA3 and GTA: Vice City for the Playstation 2 and Xbox this Christmas.

Take Two CEO Jeffery Lapin explained during a conference call that Take Two and Sony have amended their exclusivity deal to allow the existing GTA games to appear on other consoles.

The exclusivity contract will, however, extend to the next game in the GTA series, which will appear on the Playstation 2, according to Lapin. The game will have an unspecified period of exclusivity on the Playstation 2 before being moved onto other formats.

Lapin also confirmed that there were no plans to bring the double pack to the Gamecube, but said that they may release the next GTA game on all formats (once the exclusivity expires) if it is financially viable to do so.

A special thanks goes out to gamesindustry.biz for the original article which can be found here.
