Guitar Hero goes 80s

PS2 News | Even more guitar heroics for the masses.
Well, this seems to have come from nowhere. Guitar Hero fever seems to be taking over the entire world, with Guitar Hero II hitting the shelves not too long ago to rave reviews. RedOctane and Activision are hoping to keep the trend going, announcing Guitar Hero: Rocks the 80s today, via press release. The game will focus on - get this - rock tracks from the 1980s. Somewhat surprisingly, it's going to be exclusive to the PS2 - sorry 360 fans, you miss out this time around.

This edition will feature thirty songs all up, but so far, we only know of:
  • Twisted Sister - I Wanna Rock
  • Flock of Seagulls - I Ran
  • Ratt - Round and Round
  • Bow Wow Wow - I Want Candy
  • Quiet Riot - Mental Health
  • Dio - Holy Diver
  • Asia - Heat Of The Moment
The game isn't too far away, with a mid-year release scheduled. When we hear of any new tracks, we'll let you know.

Guitar Hero is an outstanding game!

Its a game that can appeal to both hardcore and casual gamers, which makes it a hit. Personally I cant get into it sober, always seems to be a hit at parties though

And I admit, I totally suck at it icon_redface.gif

Definitely a 'wait and see' thing, more because that exclusivity might just be limited....

metallica aren't a fan of licensing out their music. So no.

If the GH franchise can grab metallica songs then no doubt they would have featured in GH1/2.

Playstation 2 is also getting Guitar Hero III.

I'd get it, but they seem to have no interest in allowing GH to work on the PS3, well I could use the control pad as the input but I may as well play Gitaroo Man - which now that I think of it also doesn't work.

They better release a seperate guitar controller for the wii version instead of making us use the wii controller otherwise it just won't be the same

If you did some reading up on the Wii version, you would have seen the story on the fact that there will be a Wii Guitar Controller.

That's my thinking.

It's 'exclusive' for PS2, but the songs will probably be released in packs on xbox live.
