God of War II Australian date confirmed

PS2 News | Only a few weeks left.
Sony Australia has officially confirmed to PALGN that God of War II will be available on May 3rd in Australia. There has been quiet murmurings that the game has been delayed in PAL regions, but thankfully you'll be taking control of Kratos again in only a few weeks.

PAL Gamers may miss out on a HD mode, but there's no need to feel all left out, as the game will come with a bonus DVD, which we think is a pretty good deal. Look out for PALGN's review of God of War II shortly.

Whats on the bonus disk?

"Additionally, all versions will include an extra disc chock-full of bonus material, including ‘marking-of’ videos covering lost levels, the stress of preparing for press events and music, plus a bunch of artwork - among other things. So, practically all the good stuff that’ll get any God of War fan all giddy."

America received the bonus too, so it doesn't really make up for it. Unless it's a completely different bonus disc, which I doubt Sony would go to the trouble of making.

^To my knowledge, if you pre-order it you get a Tin box edition with 2 discs, which would be the game and the bonus dvd. Otherwise you get a standard edition. Info is kind of sparse but the fact is, there's a Tin box edition, which is pretty much limited.

^ Hmm, I think I should pre-order then

2 weeks left icon_smile.gif no more delays

Next week I'm going to my local EB and preordering this. I want that tin Box Edition!

So is the tin only available at EB? I want to get my hands on that edition, but I rather do it elsewhere.

Did you ever know that you're my hero,
and ev'rything I would like to be?
I can fly higher than an eagle,
'cause you are the wind beneath my wings.

(just thought I'd tease)

This tin-box edition must be pretty covert - as my EB was adament that there was no special ed. of GoWII. I'd be plenty happy to find out that there is though. GoWII is one of the games this year that really needs a special ed.

see the thing is that's what irks me. We have a listing that there is a tin box on the way, however we have recieved no more info other than that. Either the listing is retarded or there actually is a tin box. We'll see by may 3rd I guess.

So is it conformed that only pre-orders will get the tin box or can you just walk into a store and pick it up? Or will it be tins exclusively for the first couple of days? I know some games have done that in the past, Unreal Championship 2 for example. The thing is, if you were to pre-order, more often than not you'd be shelling out top dollar. I never do that anymore. You'd be crazy to when there are so many other alternatives out there. So what is the official word? Or do we really not know yet?

I'll get back to you on it. I'll have a chat to my manager and such and see what the go is. And I'll see if I can get full confirmation that we're actually getting a tin box.

They can charge full price because the console is still selling really well and they also know you and everyone else will buy it even if it's full price.

Should I play the original before bothering with this? It never occurred to me until just now... icon_redface.gif

You'd want to play the original for 2 reasons: One being that number 2 is a proper sequel and starts after 1 has concluded and has the same main character and all and two being that it is one of the best PS2 games there are.

So in short: Play the original!

Cheers icon_smile.gif

And Cro, if you were planning on playing GoW2, definitely give the original a crack first.

After finishing GoW2 and realizing how awesome it was, it would be natural to want more of the same so you'd end up playing it anyway, only to find out that it actually is more of the same, only less good. Still great but not 'holy cow, this is the greatest PS2 game ever' great.
