MGS 3: The Radar-less

PS2 News | Kojima has opted to remove the Metal Gear series' staple navigation device - the radar.
Metal Gear Solid: The Snake Eater will be the first Metal Gear game not to have a short-range radar, used by players to avoid the line of sight of guards.

Most of the game will occur in the great outdoors, as conveyed by the trailers released at E3. There are concerns that this radical change in gameplay will be a turn for the worse, but only once the game becomes playable will we be able to tell for sure.

So is this a good or a bad idea? Discuss in the forums.
